ok, maybe not the right word, but "This person did a bad thing, therefore we should do more bad things!" just makes no sense.
I'm not talking about the game-theoretical notion of precommitting to punishing action in order to make people not do bad things in the first place, I know the math behind that and while tragic it's indisputable. But such notions do not cause the kind of barbaric behaviour that is capital punishment, there are way more effective means of deterrence (room 101 type stuff) that don't require people to ****ING DIE.

This should probably get a thread of its own so as to not overwhelm the sad thread.

That said, my two cents is that while I'm generally a tolerant, socially left-of-center kind of guy, I also firmly believe that there are some people whose crimes are heinous enough that they just need to die.

I've been researching Abscesses in cats, and I don't know what to do. Charlie's wound seems severe, but there are some sources that say if it's clean and ventilated to the air, then it'll heal and close up by itself.

I really worry about his welfare, but I don't want to have to incur the expenses of an unnecessary veterinary visit.

Are you sure it's just an abscess? You have to make sure. For now keep the wound clean, and for god's sake do not touch it with your bare hands, as it might get infected.

Well, I'm not SURE it's just an abscess, but it doesn't seem infected. Like I told you, it's like something ate away the skin, and there's a big hole in his flesh.

Two of my sister's cats have had something similar.

One was a benign tumor on her foot, they recently amputated that cat's leg because it was becoming painful to walk.

The other was a cat that made its way into our garage after having apparently been hit by a car and having crawled through barbed wire.  We spent so much money on that stupid cat.  Femur surgery, all kinds of stuff, and it had some kind of infection on its side, this huge disgusting sore.  It'd go away and come back, and eventually we  took it to the vet.  The vet had no idea what was causing it and was considering doing her graduate thesis on it if she could figure it out.

Long story short, whatever it was eventually ruptured the abdominal membrane and the cat had a hernia and died.  Man I hated that cat, everything about it was so damn gross.

Oh yeah, excuse you that this one animal was just so gross when it was suffering and pretty much dying. Poor you having to deal with it huh?

Just reading that made me sad. Poor thing sounds more like it should of been put down.

Yes, I agree.  It was so mangled when we first found it we were going to put it down but my parents spend thousands of dollars on it because my sister didn't want to have it put down.

Seriously though, I'd suggest you go to your vet. If it really is serious, and if your waiting caused it to worsen so much that the cat has to be put down, would you be able to live with it? Nip it in the bud, I say.

Unreal World is broken on my computer.  It always generates the same world, apparently the random seed is broken, and I vaguely remember there being world generation options.  I don't get any of those, it goes straight to generation and if I try to regen it always comes up with the exact same world.

Not a huge deal since the world is big but...

It crashes in the Armor screen.  I'm sure there are other crashes too.

BLARGH BLURGH BLUH BLUH BLUH

I may have to miss Fall Quarter if I don't get some damn FAFSA stuff printed out and mailed in.  If I miss it I'll be running up on 6 months out and  they'll start wanting me to pay back my other loans.  Dammit dammit dammit.
