people reminded that nothing they produced will have any lasting value, even to themselves.

Quite frankly, I like it. It's a great incentive to have the best time possible on this earth.

That said, I don't think I'll be committed to Rule Of Cool in terms of... pyrotechnics? What, did you have a spray can and a lighter?

Rule of Cool perhaps does not apply to chemistry lessons.

Not chemistry, pyrotechnics.
Ah.  I see.

Ugh, just spent half my day doing paperwork and getting things ready for when I actually head out of town, but fortunately, it's all done and taken care of.

Now, to reserve the time as well as my birthday from work, and I'll be set.

Part of the paperwork I was doing was also reactivating my Steam account (since it apparently wasn't temporary). Now to wait.

Bloody bulb in my room burned out.

WHY do they have two different fittings? WHY?

Your character has, regrettably, passed away. Our condolences. . .

I spent fourteen hours developing this character into something I can give a shit about, which is supposedly impossible because I can't give a shit about a personality, that is until I mold that personality for fourteen hours straight.

I just...no...no man, don't talk to me I need to be alone...

I think it's AtonementRPI. There is a thread in Other Games.

I went to work today to ask for more hours (while calling off specific days as well), and it turns out there are still serious cutbacks on hours.

Of 2 weeks, I'm only working 4 hours total. That's going to be one pathetic paycheck. Why don't they just lay off me already? At least in hindsight, I have my freelance account ready to be used, and just in time. Provided I can hold myself off from being broke for long enough to get some income from it. Ugh.

Spoiler: another long rant (click to show/hide)

Sorry about the rant. I'm just on edge right now. But I think I found my new self-defining trope.

EDIT:
Dang it! Holden Caulfield has been referenced almost everywhere I've looked recently. Why it bothers me is because of a single notice, and now I'm seeing it everywhere. How'd that happen?

EDIT EDIT:
I'm trying to cut back on my long posts; I'm just too descriptive when I write.

My sister's dog snapped at our cat for sniffing a pizza crust, so I dragged the dog to her "time-out spot".
I also slapped her. My sister wakes and sees me slapping her and asks what happened.
I told her and she complained to me about punishing the dog when she thinks the cat should be punished. >:(

It's more anger than sad...

Er... so you want to have a bad birthday?
Reasoning aside, that can easily be accomplished; just stay home and stare at the wall all day or something.

I agree with your sister, the cat should be punished for being a cat.

I agree with your sister, the cat should be butchered for being a cat.

Let's just say, if the days before my birthday are bad or worse than the next in any way, then the birthday itself should be a crescendo of all that's been going on and be the crowning bad day.

If things actually balance out and are fine, then let's hope the birthday makes up for the slack by being good.

To have a good birthday after a week of non-stop crap, forgiving it may seem, can sometimes be worse than you expect. Basically, it's a temporary "pet the dog" day before continuing the onslaught of crap for the following week after it.

I personally would take that as an insult; so preferably, I'd rather the rest of the week's worth of crap concentrate into the main event day, and make all following days after the "crappiest birthday" regular days. Not good, but not bad. Consider it like defibrillating the heart of time, and restoring things to normal by hitting it with absolute catastrophe. Birthdays are perfect for such a move. Consider it like a counter-dick-move to life pulling a dick-move on you. Intentionally taking on calamity, knowing it'll balance out things in the long run.

EDIT:
Oh, and the plan to stay home all day was already considered. But as a way to avert having a bad day.

I'm in an intro abstract algebra course, at the undergraduate level.

Our first reading assignment for the semester is to study a paper called "Survey of Non-Desarguesian Planes."  I have no bloody clue as to what's going on.
