Write it.  That's a book that should be written.

Oh, hey, guess what I stayed up until 2:30 doing?  Trivial math problems!  And guess what I got up at 8:30 AM to keep doing?  Trivial math problems!  Oh well, at least I can go get some coffee before I have to get back to... trivial math problems!

Goddamit shit fuckmuffins.

Absolutely the worst possible fuckmuffins to have.

Also yes, write that book. I will gladly exchange some of my precious dollars for it.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Tries to download cooking book. Downloads firearm book by accident.

This is a prime example of why I shouldn't be on the internet when I'm tired.

Was the book perhaps titled "How to cook some punkass fools, for dummies"?

On the other hand, this problem is actually kind of interesting.  I feel slightly better.

Math problems.  Interesting.

*shudder*

Sorry, I'm still scarred from three semesters of calculus and numerical analysis.

I mean, look at this:  "For each of the following functions, show by example using 3-digit base-10 arithmetic that the formula can lead to large relative error due to digit cancellation. Then find an alternative formula (using algebra and/or trig. identities) that avoids the digit cancellation, and verify the accuracy of your new formula."

f(x) = (1 - cos x) / x2 for x {squiggly equals} 0

f(x) = ln(x+1) - ln x (for large x)

What the hell is that?  Did I actually do that back in college?  I think I blocked those memories out.

Basically, here's what I know about myself and education, and please forgive me for momentarily dropping my self-deprecating veneer.

I think that the situation that you're describing is exactly what I've been terrified about falling in to in the future. I really hope you're able to get something worked out.
