I'm just jovially hostile with him most of the time and especially when I sense he'd make fun of me or make light of whatever I'm going to say.

the advantage of almost always being calm and composed is that people are more likely to take you seriously when you do lose your chill. sometimes, very rarely, a superlative response is appropriate, and it's nice to have some certainty that it'll be taken seriously. (even though im a really weak dude and can't really physically hurt anybody, especially not since a lot of my friends do martial arts and shit)
