How could someone kill goat mom

The problem is, the game does a rather poor job of explaining the mechanics of that.

Shortly before fighting Toriel, you're all but told that not every fight can be won peacefully solely through ACT/MERCY, and that some point you'll have to FIGHT. Then Toriel comes up, and before long you'll find that ACT no longer works, and even several uses of Spare don't seem to have an effect(and running gets you nowhere), so you can easily assume you'll have to attack her before she sees your point in the matter. Assuming you've been pacifist up that point, your attacks do little at first, but after a number of attacks, the game assumes you actually want to hurt her, and deals lethal damage(damage is based on your intent to kill, after all).

In truth, in NO battle except one(and that's averted in a true pacifist run, but you still do have to do it once) do you actually need to FIGHT.

Finished my trashy Undertale fanfic in celebration of the anniversary!

I wrote it in about an hour from 11pm to midnight, so don't judge it too harshly. It's more 'me trying my best to contribute to my favourite game of all time' than 'me trying to write good.'

Anyway, it's 1:30am, and I'm getting a headache. And a sore back from leaning forward in my chair for some reason.

i killed goat mom on my first run because i couldn't find the other way.

i don't like people saying "how could anybody do that" because imo the game is pretty obviously designed to tempt you to do that in your first run (at least, before the game became as hugely popular as it is. a lot of people went into the game with the mindset of "im going full pacifist" to begin with). im not trying to phrase this as a bad thing about the game, because imo its pretty genius and plays really well into the themes of the game. i only stopped killing people after the undyne fight on my first run, because she says something to the effect of "these people had families" and where in any other game that would be pretty fucking cheap, it's used so sparingly in undertale that it actually made me feel bad about what i'd done.

also i did genocide after i did full pacifist but i just gave up at sans. because the fight is really hard and because i changed my mind.
