Okay, after a few days, first round of perfume smelled pretty awful. So, I decided to try again, learning from past mistakes and hoping to make new ones; one of those new ones was trying out a jar that did not, in fact, screw entirely shut, so I had to transfer everything over to a bottle with a much narrower neck. Managed to get most of it in, despite the lack of a funnel, but now my hands smell fucking amazing. I am optimistic.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Latest update of Girl Genius had me in stitches.  I would link it, but sadly about half the jokes require prior knowledge... Particularly the excellent punchline, which will make no sense to a non-reader.
Though the page is still pretty funny if you know that "spark" means "mad scientist".  Which is simplifying a lot.

I was about to say that the art style reminded me of the following card:

But it looks like it's the same artist. Neat.

I'm honestly amazed that you recognized and dug up that reference to a 1997 Magic card in under 4 minutes from me posting.

Edit:  I mean, the art has evolved significantly over the past EIGHTEEN YEARS WTF.  Art analysis confounds me.

I only started playing Magic last fall. I have no idea why I even know that card exists :P

It's an excellent ringtone to scare the crap out of anyone trailing behind you; especially for a long period of time.

Scraped together my change. Bought a lottery ticket. (Yes, I know the odds, yes I know the impact on society, yes I know it's a stupid waste of money, yes i know that over the long run I'm very much a net loser, yes I know that gambling is bad, yes I know that luck is a function of probability, et al. It's the only real vice I have left.)

Anyway, I turned my dollar into six dollars. Pretty happy about that. "Bad process, good results" doesn't usually happen for me.

What impact does buying a lottery ticket have on society? Asides from yourself losing whatever money you spent on it, obviously.
