Was picking up random shit from the Thames, some interesting but not of much practical value items were found, including some of unknown purposes. Most ended up thrown in the garden or given away, with one exception; found a swiss army hammer/knife, made out of stainless steel. Once I scrubbed the grit off, it looked good as used (not quite good as new, but it shone). Aw yiss.

two days ago I thought that inserting my own Dwarf Fortress UI elements into existing viewscreens with Lua was beyond my ability

So today, I was waiting for the bus to arrive to take me home. Now, we already knew a storm was coming-You could see the MASSIVE FUCK-OFF THUNDERCLOUD. Then suddenly...
Lightning, in the distance. Me and my friends went silent. We heard the thunder about 20 seconds later. So it's close.

The next bolt? 15 seconds.

The next? 3.
And then suddenly, the wind began to kick up. Another bolt, followed IMMEDIATELY with thunder, deafeningly loud. I felt a single drop of water on my face. I felt two more.
And then, the rain began.
We had to be moved into the school and await the buses, and...Holy shit, it was AWESOME!

Four more days... Four more days of assholes, tests, and stress. Then, finally, I get to leave and spend the summer with my dad (and my dickish step family, but it's at least an improvement).


Also! Finally managed to get a personal programming project working properly! It's a rudimentary 2d platforming "game", designed to be easy to modify and expand. Collision with platforms wasn't working, so I spent ages fixing that, and broke jumping in doing so. And when I fixed jumping for some reason platforms stopped working. But now, it doesn't have any completely game-breaking bugs!

Collision is still black magic to me. When I made a platformer the player accidentally got the ability to walljump, which was interesting. They can also cling to ceilings indefinitely if they keep jumping. I guess that if I wasn't lazy that would make a great platformer gimmick.
