B12 occasionally makes me forget how liberal I actually am by many standards, since I'm  fairly conservative by these standards.
Same here. Only more like the internet as a whole instead of just Bay12. Because the internet is crawling with far-left/extreme social justice activists, someone who is very liberal/progressive by real-world standards can look centrist or even right-wing by comparison.

Example: in the real world, supporting LGBT rights generally includes seeking legal freedom and equality and being mildly happy when LGBT people get positive media representation, and this is regarded as a pretty progressive sentiment. On the internet, supporting LGBT rights means we have to tear down the cishetpatriarchy and add extra letters to the acronym and be intersectional and if you dare use the wrong pronoun even once when referring to a trans person you are a shitlord conservative.

Its funny you should say that.  That is also true of conservatives. :P

And even centrists tend to get that 'extreme' vibe.

Ill also admit, that bay12 and the Internet might of made me realize I'm not as far liberal than I thought I was.

Summin' like that.

You guys have been incredibly good for me, in terms of interacting with people outside of people I'd normally meet. I wasn't this liberal/accepting before I joined.

Bay12 has had some influence on my political stance, I believe, 'cause I do try to adapt when I'm wrong. Granted, on some things I'm more adaptable than others.

And I guess I'd agree with Arx. I most certainly wasn't this accepting before I joined...

Is it possible....you've...*Gulps*

Liberalised me??!!??

well, i do have to admit that continuous exposure to b12 fuckery pushed my overall viewpoint a fair bit towards the general liberalism direction

and then there are the far left shitlords who are doing their darnedest to make me a reactionary all over again

good luck shitlords

Now that you mention it I don't think Bay12 has liberalized me, in fact I've moved right on as many subjects as I've moved left on since coming here, but it certainly helped me to solidify my opinions on philosophy, politics, and especially plump helmets.

I'm not sure if it's changed me, to be honest. Still a liberal, I suppose.

I honestly can't say that being on Bay12's really changed be that much. Still the middle of the road, slightly right leaning, soon-to-be vote wasting libertarian that I've always been.

RE: Bay12 liberalizing you:

My opinions on religion are hella different then when I joined. Also, I have a hard time thinking in left-right terms. Comes from being in a country where there are more then two relevant political parties.
