In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I'm not giving it away, but I'll say it's not Greek, Roman, or Egyptian in origin, and the specific myth/legend doesn't date from antiquity.

Beowulf
Is Beowulf not in antiquity? *googles*

It's apparently set in the 5th century, so yeah, it's just barely past the antiquity watershed. But no, that's not the right answer, and I'm really not going to be answering any more proposed answers, revealing this person's name to a bunch of internet people might be kind of a privacy concern, and I take other people's privacy seriously.

No problem. I do think Beowulf would be a cool name for a kid, though.

This also reminds me of the James Harriot book where he first meets his employer, Siegfried, and thinks he's going to be a German dude, but it turns out he's just a normal English dude and his parents were big mythology geeks or whatever.

I have double-sided Velcro. Seriously, this stuff... it's Velcro, but the loops are on one side of the strip and the hooks are on the other, so you can roll it up.

People are suggesting cool mythic/legendary names to name people.

GILGAMESH
Gilgamesh is an awesome name and probably the one I'd pick if I were going for a legendary name, you get kudos for suggesting it, even though it's a name from antiquity.
