...I reverse image search..
On a totally unrelated note, saying that reminds me of how cool the internet is.  Reverse image searching: "You take an image, and you compare it to images from all other websites for matches, outputting a list sorted by relevance, in half a second."

A bit happy and sad about this. I just decided to return to my old game of Fallout 3, and when recovering my old saves (Since the HDD issue/replacement), I did salvage a generous share of the saves (Recovery effort wasn't 100%), but I am short 78-odd saves (out of 1250-odd saves, excluding those that weren't packaged; so closer to 100+ lost saves). On the good side, I'm close to the end of the base game, on the bad side, I have a good day or so of playtime to recover until I'm back to where I last played (first branching of the storylines/expansion packs). Fortunately, I had a thing for savescumming, so I don't think I have all too much missing. In a sense, my memory is recovering as to where I am in the game precisely. I think I was just dicking around with loose ends of sidequests before the endgame and before getting powered armor and hell breaking loose.

I wish I could say the same about New Vegas. That is clean slate.

Why  would you need that many saves?

I think I was trying to avoid auto-save annoyance with FO3's system; or I had the wrong idea about how saves were handled, and made tons of saves. Also, there could have been awesome moments I wanted to replay.

EDIT:
I guess my savegame policy for the game is similar to always carrying a camera on you; you don't know when the right moment would come along that you'd want to relive (as an image). In this case, I had tons of backups made in case something like this were to happen, apparently.

Holy nuts.

I'll probably never get a chance to play it, being a multi-tasking PC gamer heathen, but this is EXACTLY what FFXII could have been. The trend lately in FF games has been obvious real time combat with a turn-based GUI superimposed on your screen, and while I love turn based games, the two just don't seem to mix well. Good to see they're breaking free of that, even if arbitrary% of this is linear, scripted events like God of War and Cowadoody.

Times are changing, and not even Final Fantasy is keeping up with its own core elements anymore. What next, no airships?

EDIT: Also thinking of streaming for the first time ever. Was thinking maybe some Ironman XCOM: EW on Impossible? Fun times could be had by all.

Been wanting to see the new X-Com Expansion! If you have questions about how to get streaming set up, drop me a PM or something, and I could help you get it set up.

Okay, I can deal with swinging swords that are the same size as you. It's been part of FF since seven. Consider disbelief suspended. Now, when an average sized human blocks a sword the size of a car, then picks up said sword and swings it, then I have trouble believing. Also, I can't fucking tell which gender two of the three characters are. The big dude with the tattoos is pretty obvious, but the other two escape me. It's also nice to see the return of the Ultima Weapon. Got some nostalgia out of that.

To be fair, he had help from another dude, but I get your point. By Final Fantasy XVI, they'll have done away with the characters entirely, and you'll just play as a giant, sentient sword.

Great, now I'm imagining the whole of the FF7 cast being replaced with their respective weapons that have their hair.  Cid's spear has a cigar.  These mental images are silly.

Sephiroth's having trouble stabbing Aeris because she's a staff with pigtails, make it stop.

Once per week I download a file from the foreigner police web site that lists all the approved visa applications. I've been checking for about six months, and recently had a scare where I went in to renew my temporary visa and they said I had failed to respond to a letter I never actually received, and had to scramble for documents at the last second.

Today, I downloaded the file, searched for my number, and it was there! My application has been approved at last! Now I just have to wait for them to contact me, and I'll get my long-term residence card (again), and not have to worry about this for another... Well, last time they only gave me 7 months, which was ridiculous, but fingers crossed that I get longer this time around! In any case, I won't have to worry about traveling to the states for my sister's wedding. : D
