I've been trying to complete a
particular Oblivion mod for a while. About a year. A day or two ago, I went south from Leyawiin. Farther south. Off the map, running on water. Found what I had been searching for for, oh, 4 hours of gameplay time. Finally finished the quest I was stuck on.
Continued through the mod farther; eventually found that a newfound piece of property had the credits to the mod. I got congratulations, a unique staff with unique effect. I asked character about CHIM and she finally answered. I didn't really need to know about CHIM
1. The fact that she answered the question instead of brushing it off was validation that I was done with the mod's MQ.
Odd feeling. Kinda like finally beating A Link to the Past after
13 years a few months ago. The main difference is that the characters in this mod are endearing. Memorable. A Link to the Past has 3 of those. This has many more. It feels like the series finale to a really good show.
The feeling is augmented by... a few other things. Next month, in the same way, is the end of my childhood. Homestuck is ending. C0DA will end the mysteries of Yagrum Bagarn, Sotha Sil, Vivec, Numidium, CHIM, Landfall, Amaranth, the New Man, Thalm[OR]/KINMUNE, Tal[OS], C0DA, heck, maybe even Mnemoli. That's quite a bit that should be answered sufficiently and it makes me feel sad and happy at the same time like any good finale.
I need to start writing stuff. I hate enjoying a community when I don't contribute to it.
1the explanation in the mod is actually pretty good, but if there were voice-acting in the mod, I know for a fact that it would be consistently mispronounced as "chim" as in "chimpanzee" due to a remark in there
