Read a series of science fiction short stories collectively called "Humanity Fuck Yeah" which are about humans and their interactions with alien races. I'll upload it to Imgur sometime so people here can check it out. Got to say it was a pretty motivating set of stories.
How many races we made exctinct in there? v:
Three stories involved the humans causing alien races to go extinct. One of these involve aliens that think of themselves as perfect beings sending a nuke to destroy Earth after seeing how imperfect humans are only for the humans to get revenge in the end, while another involves humans being inducted into a sort of hive-mind only to leave it after having trillions slaughtered by another member of said hive-mind and then deciding to wage war against said hive-mind and slaughtering hundreds of civilizations as a result. I forget about the third.
One story had humans at war with their enemies only to make them allies in the end.
One story had a human saving the asses of some aliens and later inspiring said aliens to do better themselves.
One story had humans liberating an enslaved alien race from another alien race and winning an ally for life.
One story had aliens repaying a debt in a war to the humans because the aliens themselves accidentally killed a human who was shielding a child from an explosion only to find out that humans sacrifice themselves regularly and thus leaving both confused and inspired as a result.
One story had humans becoming the villains of the universe because of a misunderstanding about their first contact and about how humans were the only race which weren't driven insane by being in space due due to their history of going to war with each other.
One story had an alien race that had come to invade Earth leaving in fear because the planet is covered in things that make their own insect bio-weapon look to be about as dangerous as a clump of dirt.
One story had an alien race that used courtship as a weapon being dominated by one man who inspired them to erect a statue of him and use something along the lines of "I hope a human has sex with your mate" as an insult.
One story had an alien race with hypersensitive senses of smell and taste who ate mostly bland nutrient cubes trading away their best and most prized technological blueprints for organic crops, livestock, and tons of recipe books and cooking documentaries after being treated to a feast that was described as six hours of heaven.
