I'm hella nervous spending anything, but I'm investing a little in my own happiness.  Went out last week and bought a whole lot of origami paper, stationery and a notebook with a hedgehog on it with fall motifs, since those are my favorites.  And I got my family dinner and I'm grabbing myself ME3.  Life is okay.  This should do me for a while.

I've been really torn up about leaving the Art Institute of Seattle.  It's a crummy school, honestly.  I've learned a lot but not nearly enough for the career I want, and it charges way too much.  But I'm still leaving a place I've worked and learned at for two years and I have no idea what I'm going to do from here.

I was talking to my boyfriend about it, and the only way I could describe how I felt was with clips of sci-fi shows I've seen.

All in all, I said I felt like I was either destroying something beautiful because its time was at an end, or I felt like I was destroying something because it had been taken away from me and soiled.  He more or less said I need to buck up, stay strong, and endure the last months of school, then I'll be free to pursue new options.  I think I've found a keeper, folks <3

I think with art it helps to be taught some basics, but from there it's just a matter of practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice.  My first couple years of school helped me find my direction and got me to a point where I was capable of teaching myself.  My last couple years of school, I felt like my free time study was more valuable than my classwork, and only stuck it out for that piece of paper.  Just dive into online art communities.  I learned more from hanging out on ZBrushCentral than anything else.  Participate in challenges and exercises, make connections, keep pushing yourself to strengthen your portfolio, and you'll find your way.
