Heh...I wish I could use my Master's like that. At least then it would have been worth something. About the only status symbol I got was colored cuffs on my robe, and a hood.

But you had robes with a hood... That were colored... And the title Master... You're a frakking wizard, man.

Given my general ineptitude at life, I'd say of the Discworld variety. Only without the stipend and tenure.

And suddenly we know where that missing 20% of the Canadian maple syrup strategic reserve is going to turn up.

Should my memorandum to the company not succeed in convincing them to improve the honey taste, I'm relying on you to infiltrate the plant, find the dial that controls the honey flavoring, and crank that bitch all the way up.

Just performed a successful venipuncture today. Complete with full analysis of blood.

I'll miss this until half a year from now...but still, loving advanced lessons @ Medicine!

I think... I think I'm actually going to be able to start saving money this month. I've paid all my bills, and I have $500 left. Between food, preemptive holiday shopping, and travel, I can reasonably expect to spend about $300 more, but wow. Maybe by January I'll be able to get my car fixed*!

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I need to save about $100 to even get started fixing my car. Unfortunately, it may be too cold to fix it soon.

RedKing's BSG/Aurora game. It hasn't even really started yet and I'm already getting into character.  :D

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
