tldr; version, wikipedia is considering blanking all the English wikipedia pages temporarily in protest against SOPA. By the look of the below voting, it isn't unanimous, but is still highly in favor of doing so.

Think a website might be down, so i go to http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ to see if it's really down or if I just can't access it. It turns out that the site that tests to see if another website is down is down.

I noticed that too. I guess it found this to be the most viewed thread on the forums and figured by stealing the name of its creator it would get more views. Always fun to see the latest advances in spambot technology. :D

Funny thing about the whole academic gender gap thing is where I live I've often gotten used to guys consistently preforming worse in everything. I seriously don't know what kind of cultural situation is going on in my town that it's swinging that way instead.

This is how things are in the UK too with the one exception being maths but only by a slim margin. I'm glad to hear that slim margin is cultural.

In Sweden too. Education/intelligence (as in the "learned" kind) isn't part of the male/boy gender role anymore, so guys are encouraged to not study. Being an aggressive arse is clearly superior to knowing languages or history.
