And I think we tried something like that in the states a year or two ago, except is was mandatory for all girls in elementary school or something. And the vaccination leaves side-effects. So of course it was shot down due to the mandatory stupidity.
The thing is, vaccines only really work if you get a significant portion of the population to take them.  Without a mandatory/ semi-mandatory (like opt-out) scheme you aren't likely to get noticable results.
Vaccination is one of the very, very few subjects on which I am willing to supersede personal freedom and responsibility, and only because it isn't really personal. Measles was almost eradicated from the USA before this insane Anti-Vaccination Movement showed up. Simply put, vaccinations have to be mandatory or they're basically meaningless, and our entire society suffers as a result. What's worse is that a splinter of the Anti-Vaccination Movement has popped up in some areas of Africa, with the sentiment of "The Evil USA is trying to make our women sterile!" (I'm not making that up, that's seriously what's being said). We were so close to having the world free of Polio forever, and now this bullshit is keeping it around.

It makes me angry. So, so very angry.

Drop this line of discussion. It's something I know people really feel strongly about and well you know what that turns into on the internet.

Hooray for Janet and her pre-fire extinguisher. ^_^

Anyway, I got a knowing nod when I explained the A series of AMD's "Fusion" cores today. This made me happy.

She didn't extinguish the fire, she poured gasoil over everybody so that nobody would dare start a fire.

An interesting article about how the net has changed, and is changing, the manner in which we read and think.

The title is a bit of a stupid hook, but I think the article itself was pretty neat, especially towards the end.
Interesting. I recognise what he is saying in myself but it's only a problem I have while online. I will happily lose many hours sat/laying with a good book but online I am more easily distracted.

Just as well, Rumia is only a 1st stage boss, and not really one of the strongest ones either.
