It's unfortunate, but Janet's stream dying because of a spider boss in Doom 2 being crushed + her blood mods. Her computer basically choked on blood.

 Ha! Something hilarious just happened.

I was eating a tomato when my dad comes into the kitchen and starts eating tomatoes right out of the basket. I say to him "You should really wash those off before you eat them." and he said "I washed them off... with my tongue.". At this point he was still chewing on tomatoes, I then said "Well enjoy your pesticide, bird shit. and bug shit." He then spits up all the tomatoes lmao. I wish I could have recorded it, it was that good. Priceless reaction was priceless. :D

Finished my RTDs Flash. I haven't worked with Flash in so long it's almost pitiful, much less created a completed movie. (thought this was more like a slideshow)

It's good to be animating again.

An interesting article about how the net has changed, and is changing, the manner in which we read and think.

The title is a bit of a stupid hook, but I think the article itself was pretty neat, especially towards the end.
Interesting. I recognise what he is saying in myself but it's only a problem I have while online. I will happily lose many hours sat/laying with a good book but online I am more easily distracted.
I see the exact same thing going on with myself.  I can't stay focused, I can't do a project for a long period of time.  It's also difficult for me to read a book o_O  I can't stay focused on it.  I don't want to stay focused on it.  I want to read a chunk of it then bounce to something else.

Where does it end? Sergey Brin and Larry Page, the gifted young men who founded Google while pursuing doctoral degrees in computer science at Stanford, speak frequently of their desire to turn their search engine into an artificial intelligence, a HAL-like machine that might be connected directly to our brains. “The ultimate search engine is something as smart as people—or smarter,” Page said in a speech a few years back. “For us, working on search is a way to work on artificial intelligence.” In a 2004 interview with Newsweek, Brin said, “Certainly if you had all the world’s information directly attached to your brain, or an artificial brain that was smarter than your brain, you’d be better off.” Last year, Page told a convention of scientists that Google is “really trying to build artificial intelligence and to do it on a large scale.”
Wow that's scary.  Google is turning into HAL! D:

Yeah, that was interesting. I'm not a fan of a lot of the language choices he's making; the article reeks of "The Good Ol' Days". But it has made me notice a similar trend in my own reading habits; I almost never read books anymore, and that can't be entirely explained by convenience. I'm glad he took some time to address the possibility that the losses may be outweighed by the gains to civilization, and without much (if anything) in the way of sarcasm. The article is certainly something worth thinking about.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I too have this same problem. I rarely read books because I would much rather read documents, tutorials and articles! Interesting how these things happen.

Imperial March on Accordion would definitely be my pick, despite me being a huge lover of classic games and chiptunes. It's just that good.

Yeah, I have trouble reading seriously, too.

On the other hand, this is partially because I'm reading dense rhetorical texts that can take an hour to progress 20 pages.

In other news, I'm nearly done with Gothic Realities: The Impact of Horror Fiction on Modern Culture.  Thank god.  At least it's better than some of the other such things I've perused.

I'm also about 1/5 of the way through Baudolino, which is getting a bit more interesting as I progress through it.

But best of all, I'm visiting my hometown this weekend.  I'll be attending a massive library booksale and hopefully meeting up with Aspen and Thyme.  Then I've got 15 days to relax, which I'll probably use to study and defeat Chrono Cross once and for all :3

Had fun playing through Portal:Prelude. That game gets pretty hard after making it through half of the puzzles. Still gotta finish it off though.

Pnx

So then I look up the original Imperial March, and when going through a few youtube versions trying to find a good quality one I see in the comments: "I'm going to ask my wife to walk down the aisle to this song." I laughed so hard.

The wife and I seriously considered it. Instead, we had our DJ friend do 10-seconds of the March, followed by a record scratch, and then the Bridal Chorus. So. Many. Confused. People. ^_^

Dude, you just reminded me; my roommate has an old copy of Chrono Cross, and I've been meaning to play it for over a month now. I'm about 2/3 through Chrono Trigger, which I wanted to finish first as a matter of principal, but it's a classic that's been suggested to me for some time now.

If I didn't suspect you already had a massive head-start, I would totally challenge you to a race through Chrono Cross.
