Actually, as far as I know Frelock hands out +1 bonuses or something similar to people who find mistakes. At least that's what he did in dermonster's case.

...Then again, that was the only time. So I shouldn't get my hopes up... And either way, turns out my action is so simple that I don't think I really need the bonuses.

Ehhh... Meh. Whatever.

Also: Great job ruining someone (my)'s hope. ::)

Anyway, just played Men of War with Jakkarra.  I have absolutely no idea how to play this game, and bitched up a storm to that effect.  Reliving my childhood being electronically raped by my older cousin was nothing like fun, but actually playing a multiplayer game with someone was, on top of doing something approximating "well" for someone with no Earthly grasp of the controls.  Just don't tell Jakk I said I enjoyed it.

I found my freeware dedicated flash drive this morning. spent a good amount of time playing Marathon and Spelunky.

I don't see why Nethack is the most popular rougelike. IVAN, Rouge Survivor, LCS, and Spelunky (if you count that, it's classified as a rougelike) are far better.

Dwarf Fortress's Adventure mode is even better than Nethack.

Hopefuly Toady will give adventure mode some more love soon. Even a single added feature (reactions) has given us loads of modding potential. Once it's finished, there will be nothing like it. But then, the same could be said of anything once DF hits 1.00.

It's a classic though, and you picked a lot of really atypical roguelikes there.  For what it is, (Go to the bottom of the dungeon and get that McGuffin) it's really good.

And yeah, I'm so glad Toady is working on adventure mode more now.  I'm not a Fort mode fan (I'm really not even a dorfs fan) so I haven't even played DF in a long time.

Its the most popular because the most people know of it, i guess.
having 3 or so LPs on youtube probably doesn't hurt either.

If we're being honest about DF, I never once managed to make a fortress. Adventure mode is all I play.
