The shoulder bit was intended, but somewhat poorly executed, it was supposed to look like the plant thingy is tearing him up from the inside. The hands do seem small, especially in comprasion to his torso :c

hmm.. try adding a "rip" in between the shoulder and neck, should clarify a good bit.

It's amazing how you can give character to benign creatures PA.

They are only benign to you ,)

I like the borderless style a lot, sadly your picture doesn't blend that well with the background
Arms are also a little stiff, but it has a great overall cartoony feel to it  :D

I wanted to add a background, I really did at first, but after the good 5+ hours of work blundering my way through issues I was just about done with it for now.
I might revisit it later.

If not a background, atleast try and add a shadow on the ground, or a line that represents the ground, gives better sense of volume and perspective on the charachter. Good work tho, but don't ditch lines just yet, they're awesome little things that can always be helpful and useful :)

Anyways, I tried to do this weeks challenge but I couldn't feel it, so I ditched it after some 15 minutes and did something different, this I did manage to finish :)

His front foot looks a bit like its a part of the little rock/hill thingy.

Other then that, great work.

So, I decided to try something random, and just freehanded a piece. straight to coloring and shading.

Kind of a neat result honestly. (Apologies for small size, it's kind of a thumbnail for somebody on the SB forums)

Could have turned out better, thought it was gonna turn out much worse.

Square brushes are interesting.

Spoiler: "DOODLE" (click to show/hide)

Totally overdid the speckle-ish brush though. :/

It's a bit too stretched vertically, it could use a bit of squashing, to make it tighter and more focused. Agreed on the specks, could use some toning down and some better placement.

Other than that and the misshapen sun, it's a nice piece, I really like the pallete, gives that arid feeling of a rocky desert.

Also, a competition piece (my first as far as digital stuff goes :D) for DA, theme is that improvement thingy where you take an old piece and redo it. This one is about two years old and is one of my first colored digital pieces :D

Loving that, Svampapa. The only thing I don't much like in the piece is the characters, personally I would have left them out and just done a landscape. If I had to include them, though I'd make the legs on the back guy longer, they're rather stubby at the moment.

That's really cool, Jopax, but honestly I prefer your old drawing. I like the use of contrast and bright colours. As well as the angle on the robot compared to just having him side-on.

Once again I'm reminded how blind I turn when I stare at something for too long. Those are some wonky legs allright.

Thanks for the crits though. :)

I may as well post this here as well. I don't often draw cities, so any criticism would be good.

Construct a proper perspective.

That clock face seems to be contorted to sphere, and is deformed regardless.

Skyline too barren (imo).

Good if you're going for a more abstract piece, bad if you're going for physical realism.

Physical realism is the oft-preferred style now-a-days but is certainly not the "right" one, all art is just that, an artistic impression of the image in the mind's eye of the artist.

That being said it would help if you stated what you were going for with the piece The Fool.

Contribution edit!

Funny, what I can accomplish in an hour and a half has improved significantly over the past few months.

P.S. in other news, shading with both saturation and value takes ages compared to more simplistic methods, I would prefer to do even more iterations on the shading but after nearly 2 hours of work I think I'm about ready to shelve this one for a day or two.

P.P.S. I have no god damn clue what it is.
