Oh yeah, I'm no good with this one.  I get bad tunnel vision, and focus on one thing at a time.

Even with several hundred ships, it seems like enemy ships and other things die slowly.  I have a mixed fleet, too- am I missing something?

Try playing in Fast&Dangerous mode. Things move faster and shoot faster and die faster.

They were either 1 or 2- I don't remember (This is the tutorial campaign.)  I might try F&D.

Yeah, uhhhh, I'm not super amazing at this game so I don't see how this could have happened other than my current game of defending against double 10 AI with a series of giant beam cannons.

So weighted score, I'm ranked #1 in the world.

Raw Scores (Unweighted In-Game Scores) I'm ranked #672 in the world.

EDIT: Now I'm #478 unweighted.

Yeah, defending against AI 10s with beam cannons would do that, I think.  I'm not entirely sure how the scoring works.
(Last I checked I was like #117 and a friend of mine is #86).

I think raw scores is based on simple # of points over your finished and saved games.

Weighted somehow ties in the difficulty of those games and gives a multiplier.

Scoring is based on kills so yeah.

Not that I really care about Achievements, but just got Godlike and Paragon. :D

Defeated my first level 10 AI with no resource modifiers (boost for me or negative for AI) in an awesome finale that involved thousands of core ships blowing through my huge ass defenses and attacking my homeworld while I was attacking the last Core Command with a fleet of quickly depleting raid starships, but I got theirs first. Now to go for Double.

PS: Raid starships are kind of broken. Much thanks to umiman for giving me the idea for such a suicidally win tactic.

Yup. Raid starships are ridiculously powerful. It's perfectly offset by how bleeding long it takes to get them in the first place.

I just realized you can stop enemies from going through your wormholes by placing shields on them...

Well, they have to attack it first, and then they'll get through.

My current mega-defense is a forcefield over a LOT of tractor beams and a mobile builder to repair the forcefield while there's a bunch of heavy beam cannons in the back.

Mine is the chokepoint wormhole surrounded but not covered by forcefields so that the AI literally cannot leave the entrance. I filled it with the limit in tractors like Kael and surrounded it 360 degrees by heavy beams. I'm also spamming bombers as it manipulates the AI into sending massive waves comprising mostly of fighters, with hilarious results.

Yes, if there's a FF over a wormhole, the AI can't go through it.  I've known this for a while.

BTW, Godlike (and Double Godlike) aren't really that hard if you know what you're doing.  If you only have one homeworld, then it's a very difficult achievement (I did godlike in an afternoon--took four tries with an increasingly large fleet, but I did it, the full armada of 25,000 units was what I needed).

Did double godlike and double paragon in one go.

It was too easy. Raid Starships really need to be nerfed.

Let me put it this way. 72 ships destroyed the AI which had 20000+ ships and a couple thousand Core ships/mark V.

Actually, I should say that it isn't easy. But like Draco said, knowing what you are doing allows you to make even level 10 AI underestimate you, and then you utilize the AI's "quirks" brutally and you can make the game easier than it ought to be. Small maps are "cheating" from now on for me.

Such as Raid Starships. There's just so many things broken with them I won't even list them all here. I might go to the AI War forums and make suggestions.
