I am Dwarf Fortress Master, so I doubt I'll have too much trouble.

I have wood. I have water. I have magma. I have sand.

I have every single stupid dwarf trick ever imagined available to me.

I am prepared.

what was it they said came before a fall? dwarven hubris? no, that sounds too long winded...

loving the macho-dwarfo-posturing!

Aquifer breached! Praise the miners! After three restarts finally luck smiles back at me. First year, mid summer, plenty of booze and no casualties.

well, 2 casualties for me. And a grand forest fire after a battle between a Harpy and a Fire Imp

I'm suprised the magmaman didn't burn down anything in his 3 fire breaths.

ok, so 3 beak dogs attacked my area of ground, and we killed them with no casualties. the dog that attacked first might die, though.

And 6 new ones spawned.

Also, you can manufacture vomit at a smelter.  Subsequently removing the smelter spews vomit over a surprising area.

Did you dig down at all? The sand is like the 2nd layer or so. Pretty much the first thing I found on the map other than beak dogs.

All I found was sandy loam and you can't make glass out of that.

EDIT: Oh wait... an aquifer level is yellow sand... woop de doo. I was to busy being annoyed by breaching it to notice what its made of.

EDIT2: So Martin... A glass megaproject? Is that your trap card :D ?

Man, I had just assumed that was more loamy stuff.  Sand.  Oh, happy days.  Now I have no need to go outside *at all*.

I think the glass will just be a project. The megaproject is pretty mega. I'm getting nervous about it now.

For the Collapse Aquifer Piercing Method, you need to sink blocks of natural Non-Aquifer soil or stone into the Aquifer z-level. Constructed Walls and Floors discombobulate into their materials upon deconstruction/collapse, so that sadly doesn't work.

I tried that method to dam a major river... spent a long time making enough blocks to sink in, along with all the mechanical bits to generate power too. It was a sad day.

OK I Don't Get It!!!

Each time I ramp down for Pumps to be installed for my project, the Miner that reaches the Aquifer level says 'Hey theres water in this wall, I won't dig there.'
Then sits on that level like there is no way up again, despite there is Ramps leading to the Surface he will just SIT THERE!!!!

Its like the fifth time they have done this...
The last four they died of Thirst!!!

Gonna try this time with Stairs, Water can be pumped through stairs right???
