I think Rosesprite moves out of the way specifically to avoid being prototyped.
Yeah, that looked like a dodge. Somebody could probably figure it out by looking at the .gif frame-by-frame.
Yup. It was a dodge.

It's a dodge.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

The Strider (re)union was put off or won't happen, therefore I cannot agree.

(stops to consider a moment...)

Ok, so two sprites can merge. Are there rules to this?

EG, think for a moment:

You have a null, sterile session, kinda-sorta:

Instead of no sprites prototyped, and thus a sterile session, both sets of intro players start "Simultaneously", and prototype both of their unprototyped sprites with each other.

Eg, if we had the 4 kids-- Let's say that Jade and Rose are both in the same room together, and both start server copies.  Strider and John are both together in the same house, and both start client copies.

This means that in the same house, there would be 2 cruxtruders, and thus 2 unprototyped sprites.

The unprototyped sprites are then prototyped together. This essentially destroys a sprite, but advances the game field 2 stages, because technically BOTH sprites were prototyped. (No new powers or features are given to the prototyped sprites.)

If the other two players do the exact same thing, that destroys another sprite, and advances the board another 2 steps.

Once all 4 players are in the incinisphere, the two remaining sprites are prototyped together, advancing the board to the final stage, and destroying another sprite.

By doing this, the resulting bad guy has a null power set. The kids' normal powerups would more than make it possible to defeat him.

Alternatively, the bad guy's powerset includes typical sprite powers, including hidden wisdom about the game, lasers (powered up by the generic stat boosts of an endgame foe), and/or the power to prototype.

I have not yet seen a rogue sprite-- (A sprite that turns against its player).

If there is code inside the sprite to force it to comply with the players wishes, then the endgame can be assured in the above scenario, regardless of the type of badguy produced, by prototyping the ProtoSprite^3 with the final boss.

this would either crash the game (because the results of the sprite's prototyping would infinite feedback loop, since the output of the prototype data would go right back into the sprite again!), or create a "Final boss sprite^3" that is under player control.

This is incredibly stupid wonderful.

Now I wonder, though, since Jaspersprite was already fully prototyped, would there be any different result if he was also single-prototyped?

We've seen what happens there. The sprites merge into one sprite with extra prototyping power and prototype everything.

That's what happened in caliborn's session.

That seemed more like dead session weirdness.

The dead session is a sprite, right?
