I'm actually confused now.

Is Irony the opposite of what you intended to happen? Or is it about coincidence?

I keep mixing both definitions, and arglebargle my mind isn't working.

Theeeee use of words expressing something than their literal intention. Now that, is, irony!

I think the original definition of irony involved the opposite of what you would expect happening, yes. The "any sort of amusing coincidence" version has been turning up, however, presumably due to good old language decay.

He has it right. The denigration of the concept of Irony makes me sad.

I was struck by how much Meenah sounds like Eridan, so I opened up an old walkaround to check something out.  Is this http://imgur.com/vB90h basically the reason why Meenah sounds like a mix of Feferi and Eridan, and why Aranea is a mix of Terezi and Vriska?

So irony doesn't actually mean anything anymore?
So if I say "It was ironic", I could mean; "It was funny", "It was unexpected", "It was sarcasm", "I actually truly like that thing that I said was ironic".
That's what I'm taking away from this conversation so far.

Well, it's really quite hard to define irony. I think that the definition of irony should really just be an example of it. Like, having a heart attack in the middle of the street only to be run over by an ambulance.

That's just an amusing coincidence.

Irony is when there is meaning beneath what appears on the surface. Sarcasm is a form of irony, since what's literally said isn't what is actually meant. If an ambulance was on patrolling in order to try and help people, and they then ran over an injured person, it would be ironic (since they contributed to the death rather than preventing it). Undermining your own arguments in a debate would be ironic. Rain on your wedding day would not be ironic, unless the dancers you hired were rain dancers. Etcetera.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

If you hired rain dancers for your wedding, wouldn't that mean you wanted it to rain? LOL

But I get what you're saying. So sarcasm is irony, but not all irony is sarcasm.
Irony is layers of meaning? It's a bit like what Dave says in the comic then.
(Irony>layers>onion>ogre>Shrek>lol)

A lot of conversations in my brother are ironic then.
There's almost always a deeper meaning to what he has to say.
He expects me to catch on and gets mad at me when I don't.
Which makes me laugh. lol

This is so confusing. I dunno. Did Karkat make all the trolls? I guess so, I mean John made all the humans so Karkat must have made all the trolls.

There are three kinds of irony; Dramatic Irony, Situational Irony, and Internet Irony.

On another note, I've been reading through the early thread and dear Gog do I sound stupid in hindsight.

I still think not everyone survived Sgrub. I mean, sure, they won, but with all these characters there is no way AH is going to pass up opportunities to kill something. It's like Problem Sleuth, except without the extra lives.
You called it, dude.

Except for the extra lives thing. It seems like they're handed out like party favors at times.

Being dead doesn't mean much anyway. Vriska is even planning on not being dead sometime soon. lol
I really wonder how she will manage to get out of being dead. Will Hussie character tag along?

Quite possibly. Maybe? Not really? Who even knows anymore, I try not to think too hard about Homestuck or my head starts hurting.

How can he follow when he is already here?  I mean, there.  I guess.  Probably not.

No, that's it.  You solved Homestuck.  They end up creating our universe, and Hussie realizes that he is the most already here out of everyone.  Updates then stop abruptly, and he is found a week later dead in an alley, covered in a layer of green body paint which itself covers a badly smudged layer of grey body paint.

Speaking of Already Here, does anyone get the feeling that uu's story to take total control over a SBURB session is leading up to the long-awaited explanation of how/who/what the hell Lord English actually is?

I didn't see that before, but that makes sense.
Do we know what LE's blood color is? If red then maybe uu.

I wonder is LE was made intentionally by someone.
We haven't seen Doc's creation scene or how he came to be yet.
