So I'm up to page 868 of this thread. Really impatient for the reactions to Jade: Enter. (Though a few of you did call the Beq-prototyping beforehand).
Vriska does a really good job explaining to John why she caused Bec Noir. The first time through I understood "Oh, she wants to be the cause of the big bad because she's massively insecure/egotistical. Cool enough, no harm done, Tavros why you gotta be an idiot". This time I got what she was really saying though: by helping things go the way they had to, she was reducing the amount of doomed alternate timelines. From her perspective Bec would get prototyped without her input, but it'd probably be incredibly contrived and unlikely.
What she did was the opposite of Terezi getting John killed off. That aspect of weird time shit (trying to stay in the alpha timeline or suddenly finding yourself doomed and troll-less) always struck me as particularly creepy. It's not clear how far the players can stray from Skaia's blueprint before they splinter off. Based on the amount of Aradia clones they have *some* freedom, but most or all of what we would consider important events must go a certain way. Sucks.
Anyway, Vriska was doing a good thing there, and she knew it. (while also being massively egotistical)
I don't know why I wrote that when I'm only a few dozen pages from seeing the existing discussion on it. Oh well, have some awesome alternate Alternians from all those pages ago:
