I'll stick close to one wall and head down the corridor, moving slowly and searching for traps.

((I just wanted to get this up now while I had a bit of time. I don't usually post on the weekends, but if I do get some time it'll be easier this way. Zestorum is ahead of you Dwarmin, and since his action may affect yours I'm waiting to post your action. Otherwise, I'll do Turn 4 on Monday!

Mr. Person... not my fault you picked the direction that no trade comes from, and therefore has no gate. Oh, and think carefully how all your fortressess are defended before you stroll through too casually.))

You begin to seriously wonder if there's a way in this thing at all as you travel along the south side. After your berry incident you're a little more cautious though. (Observation check:5!) You do notice a decent amount of wildlife as you approach the south-west corner of the place, mostly waterfowl. It's quite a ways away but as you reach the corner you realize only then that the wall itself has shown no signs of cracking, despite it being in a swamp. You can only surmise that the dwarves must have dug down until they reached stone before laying the foundation. As you round the corner and scan the vast length of the west wall you can clearly see an indentation in it that is most likely the gate. You can't see a path from where you are but it should be a simple enough matter to make your way to it from where you are. You reason that if you were to run along the wall where the ground is firmer you could make better time even.

You look around in yor natural environment for something, anything that you could use in regards to swordsmanship or fire. (Observation Check: 6!+1 3!+1->4!) You think the kobold might have some idea how to use magic but you're not sure why. Perhaps it's the staff in his hand. But as you approach he does a little dance and you, for some reason, feel very afraid of him and decide to look elsewhere. Your observant eyes take in everything and though it seems a little far fetched you think the surrounding trees might be able to be fashioned into a sword with the proper application of magic. If you knew magic that could do it. You've seen some fire magic be cast... that might be enough. Though the idea of using fire to create a sword out of a tree seems like somewhat of a stretch.

Seeing the large evil looking bad man you quickly think back to what your tribal shaman would have done. (Action:5!) You can recall with exactness one of his favorite voodoo dances and quickly grab your staff in both hands, raising it above your head, calling down curses upon him in your sibilant speech. (Zestorum's resistance (magical dodge): 1!) A strange thing happens then and and a look of abject fear crosses his face and he quickly decides to look elsewhere for whatever he wanted.

You very cautiously move along one side of the corridor towards the other exit, keeping a wary eye out for traps. (Observation check:3+1 (active search bonus) The thickness of the wall is amazing. You could probably drive two wagons next to each other on the top of it. But it seems solid enough as you proceed. Shortly before you get to the open space you stop. You spot a small bone fragment that lies tucked against the wall nearly a food in front of you. Just then you realize that this place must be trapped, and very near to where you are standing. You don't know where might be safe, nor exactly where the traps are.

Stand dead still and look around for traps and side passages. If there is alot of traps and no side passages, I'll head outside. If not, I attempt to evade the traps on my way to a side passage.

I'll start west and wander towards the fortress looking for anything that could help in fire magic or a sword.

Run along the wall of the place to the door. Once inside, hug the floor, looking for traps.

You freeze in place and begin to look around in earnest, searching the area around you for hidden doors and traps. (Hidden door search check:3+1) You carefully scan the well crafted walls but see no signs of anything hidden there. (Trap search check: 6!+1, 1!+1) Scanning the ground in front of you, however, is another story entirely. Upon careful examination you notice several small slits in the ground, very evenly spaced across the entire entryway. Undoubtedly some form of weapon trap. You begin to get somewhat nervous. Past those you also spot what appear to be a series of either pit traps or cage traps, you're unsure which, but the floor is clearly designed to fall away. Ingenious, and quite devious. It's clearly too far to attempt to jump over them and in fact you can't see any way to simply bypass them at all without triggering something. You realize that you can't advance though unless you figure out some way of dealing with the traps.

Now that you know they're there you might be able to disable them. You have had a lesson or two on dealing with traps before you left, but nothing quite this extensive. Or deadly.

As you approach the gate you focus entirely upon it. (Observation check:2!) Had you paid more attention you might have noticed a kobold picking plants or another human doing something apparently complex. As it is, the massive steel gates loom in front of you. Fortunately for you they appear to be cracked open somewhat. Enough for you to manage to slip in through them. (Action roll:1!) You are so relieved that you finally made it inside the walls that you throw yourself at the floor attempting to hug it. It's cool to the touch but the action makes you feel somewhat warmer inside. Awwwww...

(Congrats... you're first through the main gates.)

(Observation check: 6!,4!) As you continue your work in the meadow you carefully scan the surroundings before beginning your work. The human you apparently scared off remains on the road and does not approach you. But you do see another human running towards your general direction from the south. He seems to be ignoring everything, despite both you and the other being readily visible and enters the gate in a rush. You hear a slight 'Fwuuump' afterwards but ignore the unusual sound. Continuing to search for useable plants you look around some more. (Herbalism check: 3!+1) (plant type:1!) Off in the muck of the swamp you notice a small unusual looking plant and go to pull it up. It doesn't want to come easy and in the process you fall down, covering yourself in mud, but you do hold a medium sized bloated tuber in your hands.

(+1 to Herbalism exp., +1 to Observation exp., 1 medium sized bloated tuber. You are dirty)

Following your brilliant idea you do your best to invoke the light of the sun to create a flaming sword. (Action roll:1!-1 (unskilled)) You look up into the sun and begin an extremely intricate series of guestures that you know should be working but half-way through you realize you can't see your hand anymore. In fact, you can't seem to see anything at all! Panicked you reach out and touch hands. They're still there. Whew. You can only close your eyes and hope that your vision returns here soon.

(Temporary blindness 3 turns, affects actions which require sight)

I was gonna do that but thought against it. Anyways, I'll get up and continue to look for traps as I move on.

Turn 5: Order:Sephiroth (5!), Mr. Person (2!,6!), Dwarmin (2!,4!), Zestorum (1!) order remains unchanged.

(Action roll:1!) Foolishly you decide to rush headlong into what you know might be potential death, thinking that is the only way remaining open to you. (Trapavoid:2!+1 (knowledge of trap)) As you quickly move forward you do your best to avoid where you think the triggers might be and to a certain degree you are successful. (luck roll:3!) You make it most of the way through the first series of traps before you trigger it, and a mass of obsidian blades spring up from the ground. Your reflexes saved you from serious harm but you do take a blade in your lower right leg, the sharp obsidian blade piercing through your clothing into your flesh. You leg is injured and it makes it somewhat harder to move quickly. (think dark yellow wound) You are bleeding somewhat.

Stubbornly you continue, knowing you have to get out of there. (Trapavoid:2!+1-1) and as you step forward the floor falls out beneath you. You try to roll out of the way but your leg collapses underneath you and you fall. (Luck roll:6!,5!) You take no further damage from the fall and you are caught in a crudely constructed wooden cage. There are some bones in the pit as well and it's only a little deeper than you are tall. If you could get out of the cage you think you might be able to climb out.

Mr. Person-

You carefully advance into the slightly dark tunnel of the entrance. (Observation check:4!) The thick stone walls appear to be made of a greyish stone, mottled with some white spots. Likely granite. Ahead you are able to observe what appears to be a slightly scratched portion of floor and you surmise that there might be traps there. Unsure if you should continue you go closer to inspect them. (Search check:3!) You get closer and think you still see them there but don't know exactly what to do about them. Nor do you have any idea what kind of trap they are.

You hear a noise behind you and see a kobold make his way into the gatehouse tunnel with you. He is wielding a stick.

You too enter the gatehouse, trailing bits of moss and dribbling a little mud on the stones as you go. (Observation check: 2!) The sudden shift from light to dark has left you somewhat vision impaired for a few seconds and all you can make out in front of you is a large human. You tap your way forward with your staff and can see him examining the stone in front of him. Presumably it may be some sort of trap there and you move closer to inspect the area, probing cautiously with your staff. (Search check:3!+1) They are indeed traps. And from the knowledge conferred upon you by countless thousands of failed thieves of your race you suspect they might be pit traps. You can make out the general area in which they are.

You are standing next to the large human who is scrutinizing you closely but is not taking agressive action at this time.

You calmly sit down on the road and wait for your sight to return. (Action:5!) You sit down to meditate and think about what you might have done wrong with your attempt at magic. You guess that the spell was a somewhat difficult one that involved the manipulation of both light and fire in a way that you were unaccustomed to. The magnification process must have been what caused your temporary blindness. Perhaps a simplification of the technique might be in order. You think that if you simply tried to summon fire first, and then worked on shaping it afterwards you might be able to make something like a fire-sword. It should work. In theory.

(+2 Fire magic experience) (Keep in mind that for meditation for skill gain to work you need to meditate on a previous action performed recently. Further meditation would likely prove useless at this point unless you had further failures from which to learn.)

All right. Characters may of course, work together and collaborate. Or they may try to kill each other off to gain items and what-not from the other. I roll each round for turn order and your action can affect the result of the other persons turn.

Stand back and wait for Dwarmin to go first. He is, after all, smaller. Meanwhile, I'll keep investigating the traps.
