The worrisome thing for me is not the banlist.  It is the ground-up rewrite.  That is the kiss of death for software, particularly noncommercial hobby stuff.
If you looked at his code even once, you know damn well it's necessary, though.

He also NEEDED to stop editing a certain few core classes, and ditch the sprite override system.
That in itself wouldn't take a ground-up rewrite, but...

Fair enough then.  I do get that he has leveled-up multiple times in coding skill.  And I also understand that, while it was an ambitious mod from the start, it has probably tripled in scale.

I just really believe in in-place iterative improvement.  Refactoring's where it's at, man.

Nations at war is kinda interesting. Death is sudden, particularly in well-traveled areas, so don't carry anything of value. Ever.

How do you get fences to go up and down with a switch? I've seen people using them as gates.

I'm not sure if you can attach them to pistons or not, but that would be the only way (besides that one mod that allows for movable portcullises ... the name of it alludes me at this time.  It was back quite a few pages with someone's castle screenshot.)

Edit: Found it after searching the thread and Googling the proper name: Portecoulissante

It's a whitelist server where player-made nations compete with each other. Applications are closed now that the game has started.

Well, you can still get in with a referral from someone who's already in.

Hm, is minecraft.net down? I can't seem to connect.

Sounds like Bethesda's laywers being retards. They can't possibly be allowed to hold claim over the single word 'Scrolls', or movie/game titles would be SERIOUSLY hampered by people suing over the words Empire, Space, City, Spear, Shield, Orc, Elf, Fairy, and other semi-generic words.

They must be really desperate for money and/or wanting to dip into MC's new vast wealth. As much as I love Bethesda, I work in law and I know business lawyers are dirtbag money-hungry bastards.
