Am I the only one displeased with Endermen being hostile after looking away from them?

Well, if you want to just delay them for a while, spam lava sources at sky limit above your house and enflug it in several layers of lava, then they will have to destroy the lava sources at the top and wait for the lava to finish descending to reach your house, giving time for someone to notice. As for the entrance, have a combination lock that will turn off a lava flow in front of your door.

Or dig up underneath it.
Or build a descending diagonal roof tunnel toward the house and piercing the lava flow.
Or dropping water up against to solidify the lava flow into cobblestone to create a safe roof, then mining through the lower part.

Sry forgot to mention that the lava has to reach all the way down to bedrock.

Diagonal tunnels downwards won't work, you will still have to go into the lava to place anything.

Using water won't work either, the lava is vertical, a giant cube of lava with your house in the middle.

As well as leaving you unable to get in yourself

Have pistons pop out creating a bridge through the lava, activated by a combination lock.

   I know the perfect thing to add to the night. Its not a monster or anything like that. Just a pair of red glowing dots that if a player gets to close to it they disappear. Have them be fairly rare and you got something that will stop more people from going out at night.

It depends on what Notch means by look at them. Roaming my view across the screen and having the camera roughly in the same area as a enderman for a few milliseconds should not be counted as "looking at them". You should have to have them focused with the middle of the first person view for at least a couple seconds before they freeze up and prepare to kill you.
