Two questions for those in the know about taking a map of a server at regular intervals

1. Does the new map overwrite the old one? I.E.: Can you use this to do a time lapse type thing?

2. Can you set it up for single player? Or do you need to set up a server for it to work?



Also I may have said this before but the seed "helmsdeep" is pretty damn cool, lots of cool mountains, overhangs, etc.

I don't get what the fuzz with minecraft is about. Sure, it has blocks, and sure you can build really nice things, but it gets old pretty fast and takes a LOT of time to get the megaconstructions done. A lot of grinding and doing same old.

I mean why play minecraft, when there's dwarf fortress? It's just like Chewbacca defense - DOESN'T MAKE SENSE

No, you see, playing Minecraft single player is a lot like playing Garry's Mod single player. You simply don't do it unless you're without internet or friends to play with, because it gets really old really fast. Multiplayer Minecraft is way more fun, even though aside from the widely used fantastic server mods (with Bukkit), the game is basically the same. You may disagree, but I think that's where the heart of the game is at (and why there's generally 1-3 active Bay 12 servers up at any given time). It was meant to be a multiplayer experience.
