Which way from the sand pit should I start looking? North, south, east, or west?

You do realise spawn can be anywhere in a 100 block radius of chunk zero right? Saying they're at spawn doesn't really mean anything.

The only other one is like a ten minute walk away, and is weirdly centered on a cliff.

the issue is that minecraft is unstable as hell.

Yeah it looks very awesome, even more than Gargamel, but it's very unstable, i find that most maps that have these more extreme features are very very unstable.Also Redstone just below the surface in one of the nearby caves

Okay, I must've mis-typed it. I didn't know copy-pasting was possible in Minecraft, so I tried it out to see if it would work. Now I see it properly.

I started in a different world in a sand pit. Going exploring now, and I do see pumpkins (first thing on-screen). They're NW from spawnpoint by a few feet/meters depending on where you're dropped. Or maybe a couple feet NW from the sand pit, and there are a bunch of them. Hard to miss.

Tried Tenshi, dungeon so close, with burning skeletons (The roof was sand... Which didn't exist.) So I dug out the sand, and I discovered a small cavern which has iron in. Oh, and I got a green record, iron, gunpowder and reddust.
