Does anyone know if it is possible to forward ports if your router only acts as a bridge to your ISP's router? Because I think that's what's happening with me, as I followed all instructions on portfoward.com and other sites, and it still doesnt work, and the sites mention something in the lines of 'if it doesnt work, it might be that your ISP has you behind its own router.'

If that isnt possible, is there any other way to allow connections to BYOND on my computer from the internet, like using Hamachi or something?

Have you got something called a demilitarized zone (DMZ) among your router options? I remember having troubles connecting to Starfleet Command's Dynaverse and setting the private IP (which was from portforward's instructions) as the DMZ helped. At least I think that was it. Among other things, I also made a firewall setting set to allow everything through and added the appropriate ports to forwading ("Virtual Server" section of settings). Although which ports would be required for BYOND, I do not know.

I dont seem to have a DMZ on my router, and the router's firewall is off while my computer's firewall is set to ask me whether to allow any connections (this setting worked for me when I played the game on LAN). So I'm sticking with my guess that I'm possibly behind my ISP's higher-up router. Now I'm just wondering if it could be possible to set up a Hamachi-like connection between my computer and other's for BYOND games. I'm google-researching this now.

EDIT:It seems it is possible to use Hamachi or any other VPN to play BYOND games, but is not recommended because of security issues. So I think I'm not going to risk trying it.

Dibs on the Head of Research /  Personnel / Captain / AI. Ha!

Also, anyone knows when our gaming "night"  will be?(I would gladly prefer it as gaming day in the weekend due to NO INTERNET AT NIGHT FOR UNKNOWN REASONS ARGH.)

I'll be avaiable on Saturday / Sunday if you want me to host, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM GMT +1. That should be near 3:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the USAs.

We should cap ourselves at 6 hours. If all goes well, increase to 9 on the next gaming night.

I volunteer to be the official gaming night time organizer. Everyone PM me the times you are available to play on Fridays and Saturdays.

If you plan to host, please PM me that as well. Please give us details on which map you are using and the times at which you are able to host. You do not necessarily need to play with us if you do not want to or not able to. Just host. Make us all admins if need be. I think us Bay12ers are mature enough to police ourselves into a good game. If not, give admin powers to me and Floirt. Floirt because I know him from personal experience playing on SS13. The time MUST be in GMT format! If you do not know your GMT timezone, Google it.

I am not available to play on Sunday unfortunately. The weekends in Israel are a bit different.

The gaming night doesn't have to be at night. It's just a name.

Like I said. PM me. When we're all done with that, I'll post a list. We're probably not gaming this Friday since it will take us about a week to iron out the details. I am sure. But if all goes smooth, we'll probably play on this Friday! Remember that I do not want to remove anyone from the game. But if at least 7 of us are able to gather, a gaming night will happen. A round should last around 2 hours.

As usual, game mode will be decided by vote. But of course, no sandbox and no extended. The only way I'd agree to us playing extended is if we somehow manage to keep it interesting.

This is the Bay 12 forum your talking about. Of course we can find ways to make it interesting.

It's quite standard. Anyway, that's the night length. You can retire after a few rounds. Though you should announce that in the PM. Perhaps I should have clarified on that.

I'm wondering. Should we get someone to be the AI, or play without one? Games are actually being more tense and organized when an AI is lacking, but the presence of an AI can spice it up too.

Like someone packing it with awesome laws.

Also, last Sunday I played on a sandbox server. WHEN I GOT IN, PLASMA STORM DESTROYING THE STATION, AND EXPLODING ALL OVER ME. So, me and a survivor went and singed "Still alive" over the radio while drifting in space in EVA suits. It was awesome. Then I went to see if the prototype engine made it through, it didn't, so I lured everyone in, and started a fire and walled them in. Little should I had known, was that my singing partner had superpowers. After trying to resisting arrest by spawning blobs and plasma canisters everywhere while handcuffed, I exploded from a welder+plasma attack. I did burned down someone through! Then the server restarted and I left.

Hmmm. Will we be enough to run a game? 7 IS enough, but I don't know if it will be enough if everyone plays his role well.

ALSO WE NEED AN ENGINEER LIKE HELL.

Just noticed that it's friday.  If for some reason tabletop gets canceled over in that scary real-life place, I might try to show up, but otherwise I'm out.

I'd say that the AI can make games a lot more fun, as long as it's as unobtrusive as possible.  It can add a lot of flavor if it's SANE, and doesn't interfere much with the humans in either a positive or negative way.  Just being a voice that's always present (but not annoying) is fun, and it's also fun for the traitor if he thinks the AI isn't going to screw him over at all...then the traitor can go ahead and make routine requests and have a slightly easier life, at least until the captain starts ordering the AI to help him track down the traitor or whatever.

The AI is excellent as the one thing that can always be trusted.  Way more fun than going slightly mental.

My last game, the traitor tracked me down with the AI, tracked down my "killers" who had randomly beaten me 5 minutes earlier using the AI, then requested the shuttle and hoofed it. Pissed me off because I had been beaten 5 different times during the 20 minutes I managed to survive. Game before that, I was tracked down by security, tazed, thrown in jail, someone broke me out, then tazed to death. I think it was because I tried to help engineering start the engine as an assistant.

I must say that traitor was quite brilliant.  One of the best tactics is to have a scapegoat and let security believe they've got the traitor, though unless you're brilliant and persuasive it only works with a barely-competent security staff.

The other game; yeah, that's a bitch.  It might go over better if you let the captain know you're doing it, but on a larger/more unruly server it's no guarantee.
