If God never existed in this universe and never influenced it, then that would mean that the only source of the concept would be a random thought that appealed on the emotional level.

Couldn't tell you. Which is why I don't find it particularly interesting to debate and why it's my private, personal belief.

How has the universe been divinely influenced on those rare occasions?

Sorry, I should have made it more clear that I'm not willing to discuss my faith in detail, private and personal as it is.

But, just so you don't claim I'm bowing out because I don't know, here's my answer: I don't know.

Hehe.

You should have thought of that before you made your faith public, then.

I think this is just a case of misreading what I said. I think I phrased it badly. What I meant was I am not going to keep debating this.

The love in this thread is heart-warming :)

Slashdot recently broke out into a religious debate and someone posted a link to a book by Scott Adams (Dilbert) : http://www.andrewsmcmeel.com/godsdebris/
Yesterday I had another revelation about this story, but only read this if you've already read the book:

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. :)

Meh, it's not malice. And Occams razor is overrated, even though it was used to create the story... oh wait.

Now you made me doubt the intelligence of the author again, damn your malign comment!

Hanlon's Razor. Occam's one is one about simplicity along the lines of the simplest explanation is generally the correct one but I can't remember the translation.

Unless you meant I was using Occam's razor to come up with the solution of Hanlon's Razor regarding your revelation O_o
