What? Westerners are "common humans", europeoid type :).

I mean give them awesome weapons like flails and broadswords and bastard swords. Also, make them some awesome defense armor such as full plate. Full plate > everything but maces

Flails are already in :). Broadsword and bastard sword will be added.
Actually plate armor is already like "full plate". Under full plate you mean "steel plate armor + steel full helm + steel greaves". :)

Actually plate armor is already like "full plate". Under full plate you mean "steel plate armor + steel full helm + steel greaves". :)

I know what do you mean, plate armor does that. The only problem is with material tokens gone wrong, where wooden weapon can pierce metal armor, but it should be fixed for the next DF version.

P.S. Also, opened head... This is wrong :).

I just wanna say, great work ure doing here. I believe it really adds to the game. (also as a graphics user It really apeals to me!) one thing to think about tough... maybe the oriental weapons will sound strange for players that arent familiar with them.

How about calling the Katanas something like --> Nippon/Orient Swords. etc. everybody will know its a sword and we can all make it a katana in our imagination. espesially for things like the Bo and the chigiriki.

also are you planning to do anything with Ratman and Troglodites?

At first I want to add desert creatures. I won't rename weapons but I may add their type in brackets like "katana (long sword)" or "wakidzasi (short sword)" or "chigiriki (flail)" for others to understand.

OK, version Alpha5 is up. I had to skip Alpha4 because it crashed worldgen and it took an eternity for me to find the problem.

Now Alpha5 is up, with a few tweaks to entities (added weapon types in brackets to nippon weapons (i.e. "katana (longsword)"; nippons now have lamellar armor instead of plate); also there're a lot of new creatures.

I've noticed a funny thing: because nords live on glaciers too they have a nice bath in the spring (this is a town which stands on ice; there's no stone or soil miles away):



It must be scary to live on a melting glacier :). Praise the Brave Nords.

Ah, I love vikings, they understood drinks made from crazy mushrooms. 
  Looks good Deon, im fairly impressed with the new animals you have there, I saw someone had made an whole heap of birds a while ago in the modding section (giant demon penguins, psycotic albatross, vultures etc) that might work for you.

The albatross looked pretty good too, just because the game is lacking really badass fliers.  Giant eagles just dont cut it. (the chasm fliers are ok but once they are dead all the funs over  :'(
  Walls shouldnt be enough, I want to cower in fear dammit!

edit: looks like you might have missed a tag on the lizardmen Deon, they seiged me in my first autum.  cowardly buggers though, 1 death and 2 injuries and they all ran.  Chasm creatures dont seem to be hostile to my dwarves either (or war dogs), they happily occupy the same squares and my dwarves dont seem to get interuppted by them. 
edit2:  Im also seeing lizardman crossbowmen turning up without crossbows (and with empty quivers), they also seem to be the only named "standard" level lizard fighters.  Bows and blowguns are working fine though.
  Nords and Nippons are turning up fine and the elves are bringing razor bow armed guards with their caravans.

Sorry for the long silence here, I have uni exams etc. so I skipped development for some time. Thank you for the info on lizardmen without crossbows, I will check it, although it sounds strange.
Albatross + penguin are must have for the next release. Also expect new desert creatures, I was tired fighting sand cobras and scorpions in deserts.
