Argh. I want to play this mod, but it requires Beyond the Sword. :(
Curse you, expansion pack!

No it doesn't.  There's links to a vanilla version right below the expansion version.

True. however the AI in the vanilla game is horrible, so I suggest buying BtS. The BtS AI is quite good, especially with the latest patch.  :)
Btw, my biggest problem with Civ4 is the simplistic combat system. I just don't understand why couldn't the the devs implement a new, well detailed and more complex combat system in Civ 4. Well perhaps the core fanbase likes it...that must be it.  ::)

Lol, DF has raised your expectations too much. Civ4 has a great combat system, not nearly as good as something like Fantasy Wars or DF, but it works. Civ has always really been about the scope.. FFH is about bringing the scope to a fantasy world. FFH1 did have a somewhat different combat system, but it got annoying, so they're using what they have now.

It's not graphic overload, because vanilla Civ4 runs on the highest settings just fine, and I tried turning graphics all the way down anyway.  I also know it's not mods in general, because all the stock stuff that comes with the expansion works fine.  I've got all the latest versions and patches.  Anybody know what might be wrong?

It has something to do with it. When I was using ATI 3870X2, I could also run vanilla CIV on highest settings for hours without any problem. Actually, older versions of FFH2 too. But once I upgraded FFH2 to a later version, my video driver will restart within a minute of starting a new game. At the same time vanilla continues to work just fine.

I am unable to find where exactly the problem was, but it's either FFH2's or the video driver's fault. I changed the settings lower and it last longer. FFH2 now works fine with my NVidia EN9800GTX+.

So turning down the graphics setting is worth a try.

Also, take a look in Event Viewer. See which module is crashing, and the error code.

Not really, since the Civ4 combat system is very primitive. I prefer the tactical strategy games to be honest.  :)

I'm pretty sure that Fury Road requires BTS to load.
I know that.

Quote
Can you post your errors with FFH?
There isn't any specific message, it's just the Windows standard "has encountered a problem and needs to close" pop-up.  Fury Road crashes as soon as I hit Start Game, FFH2 shows the loading screen and gets a progress bar going before it crashes.
You should know that every error has errorlog attached so how do you know that there's no specific message if you doesn't check it?

Did you try to read the bug reports thread?
There're at least 2 most obvious solutions:
Quote
2. The mod loads okay, but when you go to start a game it crashes. You experience this error if you aren't running BtS patch 3.17.
3. If you are running BtS 3.17 and the game still crashes when starting your computer could be having problems playing the opening movie. Disabling movies resolves the problem.

He's playing FFH for CIV vanilla, not BtS.

That tip you posted is specific to FFH for BtS.

1) I already asked him to check his CIV version, and it's the latest.

2) When was the starting movie added? I think it's after the migration to BtS...

Well, it turns out I only thought I updated BtS.  Didn't.  Did now, but it rendered my special exe non-functional but I'm getting another one right now.  Here's hoping.

What was so "special" about your exe? If it's a bad cracked exe this could be the root of your evils. There're good ones though.

Not bad, just outdated.  It was meant for the original BtS, so it doesn't work with the patch.
