Oh, goddammit!
So after a couple dozen of tries, I get a decent human berserker going, just to have him die at a poison vault.

Question:
What do you usally use your scrolls of aquirement on?
I got two early with my berserker and wished for amor, which gave me boots of levitation (which I never got to use) and boots of sneaking (kind of useless).

I usually wish for jewelry.

Wand acquirement is good because it's weighted towards the Really Good Ones (teleportation/haste/healing) and towards ones you haven't seen before.

The others are usually pretty unpredictable, but armor acquirement isn't so bad.

Why's that?
Hard to complete a full set of resistances for certain branches?

Jewelry isn't a bad choice. It rolls up to 5 times or something in an attempt to give you a piece you haven't identfied yet or a randart, so early on its a good chance of getting something you don't have yet. For a troglodyte, if you've managed to get decent evocations, a staff choice stands a good chance of netting you rod, which would nicely supplement your abilities.

In my opinion, it's even better later; since it's weighted towards things you don't have yet, you can probably make good use of it if there's one amulet or ring you want but haven't been able to find yet, and have identified most others.

True. Its never a bad choice, unless you've identified every piece in the game.

Two more little questions.

1.)Do you collect common weapons and armour, in hope it may have a hidden enchantment?
Randomly picking but a common chainmail, and finding out it's +2 is sweet.
Am I right in assuming they cant have egos that way?

2.)Also, not self induced berserk still does cost food, or am I wrong?
Hmm, that would make that Necklace of Bloodlust quite worthless.

I usually go armour, as branded armour is always nice and it is rather rare.

I only pick jewelry, gold, or wands from a scroll of acquirement. Jewelry most of the time, gold when I really want to buy something, and wands if I don't need the other two or I'm playing an earth elementalist.

Hmm, that would make that Necklace of Bloodlust quite worthless.

1) If you're talking about glowing, shiny etc. gear, than yes. If you're talking about stuff that has no indication of being enchanted, than no. Plain, non-enchanted items can't have egos.

2) Yes, all forms of berserk makes you less satiated.

I think plain-looking items can have enchantments sometimes, but rarely, and it probably helps if they're racial (dwarven/elven/orcish).

That's what I meant.
Well, but this only helps with armour, since it will auto-id on equip.
So you can collect several pieces of the same armour, detect curses and then try it on.

Ego items always have those light-blue descriptors on them.

It's time again for another inappropriately named artifact.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.
