Sounds like it's time to empty the graveyard. I do that now and again.

Todays game, Troll Monk:

Dum de dum what a nice day.  Eating newts, training up my fist fighting skills.

Oh, what is this?  Crazy Yulf and a room packed full of hammers!  Well, lets punch him a few times and eat him.  Yum yum yum.

Hey, one of these is a white artifact hammer, to bad I don't have any scrolls of identify.  Oh wait, I have a scroll of uncurse that I can use if it turns out to be bad, splendid!

Oh nice, its got distort on it.  That means if I run into a hydra, I can just equip this and make the bad hydra go away.  Well lets put that away for now so I can get back to punching things.

BANISHED TO THE ABYSS.

Wha, what?  Why did my weapon do that?  Oh well, I'm sure there will be an exit nearby.

APOCOLYPSE CRAB.

Oh glob oh glob oh glob.  Croaks.    :-X  :P

Unequiping distort weapons has a significant chance of banishing you to the abyss.

I'm seriously considering giving up on Crawl. No matter what I throw at this damned game recently (since the 13 update), I am dead before lair. Mages usually don't make it past d:3. Fighters can get me to the temple, but usually get offed shortly thereafter. I use corridors, I run from fights I can't handle, I stair dance, I use consumables, and then I get one shotted by an orc priest or Jessica with a disintegration wand or something. The game hates me with a burning passion, and wants me to know it, I'm sure.

A hammer will always be a bad weapon anyway.

Priest smite has a max hit of 17.  That isn't likely to one-hit you unless you're a low leveled felid.  They are managable, you mainly need to keep out of their LoS when not killing them.

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Save game and exit?

Was using the sweet +3 dmg robe, but this Swamp Dragon Armour is too good a package. Well worth the 2400 gold. Other that that, I plan on hopefully getting a Bastard sword, some low level charms going and bumbling my way to a 5-rune win.

Unless I get damn good loot, I'll skip extended, Tengu are fragile enough and Gargoyles at least have innate Torment resistance.

edit : Nah, I won't.

You died with multiple items that could have easily saved you in your inventory, I don't feel like weapon procurement was your problem.  Although you could play a not-Tengu if you want a race with better HP.

I always seem to die with a ton of escape options left, since when in great danger I tend to play carefully and cautiously, pausing to think about what the best possible move would be, and after those moves get me in increasingly shitty situations 3 times in a row I go full HURRR PUSH BUTANS HARDER TO MAKE MOAR DAMAGE mode.

Copious experimentation has shown that there really isn't much variance in the early-game survivability of the different Tengu melee starts - I tend to die at around the same 2-rune point with Abyssal, Chaos knights and Warpers. God I hate non-gifting gods. And Okawaru. Stop giving me shitty weapons you stupid idiot I bought a +9 randart Bastard sword 15 floors ago arrrgh.

I need to stop playing Crawl in the weekends. I always travel back to my home town, intending to see my parents, chill out, catch up on some reading and then I spend half the time drooling over my keyboard and raging at Acquirement.

HEAR YE HEAR YE

Rules of 0.14 tourney are up! Tourney starting 11th of April! Who's in? Last time we got 3 or 4 teams and did really well. This time we should do better since I won't try to play on the stupid crawl s-z server and just go for the european one.

Ditto.

Last time my highest rune count for one character was maybe two or three, I definitely didn't bag a win last time. And I haven't played much since then. Depths? I guess I'll find out soon enough.
