EDIT:
I really wouldn't mind if they continued Makina's Good End in some way.  I can't believe it ends just like that.
Well, there's afterstory in Meikyuu.

So... In 'Attack on Titan', why are there not >small< tunnels in the walls for humans to use to escape, instead of only the great giant doors that the Titans can break down and fit through?

Theory: The City was originally built by/for the Titans, but the tiny humans infected them with a plague to reduce their intelligence or such?

I'm assuming you haven't read the manga?

No, I have not; pretty behind on the Anime as well. Just seemed to me like a simple obvious solution to being able to escape an enemy... go where they can't follow... Like Daleks and Ladders.

Exactly, I would guess if there was such a convenient means of escape, the enemies would adapt to deal with it... I'm only asking if/why it hasn't been tried.

If the humans in the story are 'Too stupid to live' it's hard to empathize with them. Which is why I haven't bothered keeping up with this show, in favor of Servant x Service, and Digimon reruns.

Honestly, I like how genuinely unpleasant Eren comes off.  It's really refreshing.

He is a twerp! It's like they took the brash/plucky hero archetype, and took out all the charm and sense of nobility/virtue. All that's left is an angry, unpleasant, murderous douche with terrible judgement. I am pretty curious to know what the deal is with the dreams and their Dad. And whatever wonky metaphysical stuff is actually going on; I'm guessing its all a hallucination or something, or there's some kind of parallel universe thing. But maybe that's just because I'm getting a Fullmetal Alchemist sense from this (anyone else get that?)

Seriously love the design on the Titans. Dumpy and Manic are surprisingly scary when put together, and adding in how happy they look when going about their rampaging business... I don't think I've ever seen a truly scary giant in fiction, but them teeth!

I'm only on Ep. 3

I think it's actually an intentional voice-direction thing.  Eren's VA is totally doing Edward Elric, to the point where I went and checked to see if it was the same person.  And my ear is usually pretty hard to trick--so yeah, I think it's supposed to be completely intentional.

Not exactly fiction but Goya's Saturn Devouring His Son unnerved me when I first saw it. There is even a reference to it in one of the end cards (episode 14). Appropriate given that Cronus/Saturn is a Titan.

Okay, that? That's way more disturbing than the anime. Holy crap .____.

Heh... yeah, one of my Art instructors really really loved Goya, particularly his darker later years. Dude bought a house that had belonged to a deaf man, and painted creepy pagan murals all over the walls. The weirdest part is that he never spoke of them to anyone, or even acknowledged their existence.

That's where the image I linked comes from. It was copied off the wall with the rest after his death to preserve them.
