After reading volume 8 of DKaiji I decided it was time to stomach the pill and read shit loads of Cage of Eden until I couldn't handle it anymore.  I read volumes 13, 14, 15, and 16.  That was...terrible.  It didn't get any better than what I remember it being.  Also clearly Suzuki is the best character.  And Mariya has amazing eyes, otherwise...god I don't even want to talk about it...

In happier news Episode 8 of Alternative has been really good.  Yay.

EDIT:

Yes.

I'm surprised that there isn't a "nose" field.

It also has an actual ending

Honestly I like endings. While I do like longer series I do watch them with the intention that there will be an ending of some kind.

While I accept "The Journey continues" in the case where there can never be an ending.

I don't accept it when it is "Yeah, we just never defeat the main villain that we could go to defeating"

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

At the same time the anime ending I hated the most... was a Journey Continues ending. Mind you it was because they never fought the main villain and ignored his villainy because "Everything worked out anyway". (basically a slap in the face to anyone who took the plot seriously)

By the by... what is another name for "The Journey Continues" endings?

So here is the game of today

What was the kind of ending of your favorite and most hated anime endings?

My Favorite: A bitter sweet ending (sacrifices were made)
My hated: The Journey Continues + Everyone Wins

Oddly enough... I like everyone wins endings...

I finally got around to watching the rest of Gantz, and I think I may have been a little harsh.
Yes the "rounds" are a bit too drawn-out, but the episodes in-between are superior to the manga's, I think. I actually remember which gangster survived!
But the ending was kind of... I don't know, confusing? Why did Kurono just stand there, did he just give up?

He stood up because he realized that they weren't going to get renewed.  :P

But in all seriousness the Gantz anime ending was a lot better than what happened to certain *cough*Claymore*cough* other *cough*Berserk*cough* series. It's been a while, so I'm trying to recall the scene you're talking about. It was at the end of the 'mission' where Kurono is listed as the alien, right?

Yeah, the last episode.
I do have to say, I like the anime's version of Gantz (the character) a bit more; he really seemed like he was doing it all for his own entertainment.

Which is odd to me because it is his face except with different colors of hair.

The thing about endings is it is almost like writing an ending is an entirely seperate skill in it of itself.

I've heard of great writers who are infamos for being unable to do good and satisfying endings.

Hmm... favorite endings eh? What I can currently remember through my faulty mind right now is:

Hoshi no Samidare's ending...definitely quite satisfying from beginning to end. A fun journey and an epilogue which is pretty much everything you could ask for for the characters you've grown to love. As others have said, highly recommended.

Now and Then, Here and There's ending is also quite memorable in it's own way...mostly because the journey to get to it and all the things the characters had to go through eventually built up to that hard earned & bittersweet conclusion (though some may say it wasn't unique or predictable...you can't help but feel for the characters you've been watching through this show).

Kino's Journey....doesn't actually have an "ending", but it's just that kind of show. It's all about the journeys, stories and personal opinions of various themes and such from the Travelers point of view about all the things they see, hear & experience. It is definitely a "the journey continues" thing but not everybody wins...there is life, death, laughter, despair, everyday life, unique events, odd cultures, familiar memories...all we see is how the "outsiders" view this things and more within this ugly yet beautiful world they walk upon.

I want to watch an anime but I cannot remember its name

It is about a Samurai who is overcome by the murders he had to do and replaces his sword with one with a reversed blade. So that if he ever fails to defend someone his own blade will fall upon him.

That'd be Rurouni Kenshin, I'm pretty sure.

Thanks.
