Personally I keep the Mangas and Animes seperate. I dislike it when someone goes "The anime isn't canon" because in my head I am going "the anime is canon to the anime, the Manga isn't canon to the anime either"

Anyhow so I have no animes to watch now... I seen all the ones I could unless I want to take on the EPIC undertaking of seeing all the case closed episodes.

Though I'd be insane!

I wasn't suggesting that, and I have the same view. I was just saying that the anime is not a conversion of the manga, it just has the same world yet executes different plotlines. I think that Ghost in the Shell actually says that both the manga and anime are canon, they just show different stories that Section 9 goes through. I could be muddying up something I read a long time ago though...

Do people have a general preference for Subtitles or Dubs? Lodoss actually has a really well-done English Dub, so I'm kinda leaning that way myself.
Some 'hardcore' fans consider dubs to be something not elite enough for them :P (Backing it up with something about how seiyūs are totally more awesome than other language cast)
Generally, it matters how well dub is made, my own standard of quality is multi-voice with separate voice for each main char, voices should fit chars, and translation should be accurate.
Usually its enough to run first ep for several minutes to find out how good dub is.

I've seen some pretty crazy bad dubs before... and I am very tollerant of dubs.

Unless it is a major series you tend to get reject voice actors so I chose subs.

After fixing my livestream audio problems, I'm ready to start streaming the first few episodes of Record of Lodoss War, in 15 minutes or so!

For those who don't know it, Record of Lodoss War is modeled after western epic fantasy, in the vein of Lord of the Rings or Dungeons and Dragons. It follows the adventures of an aspiring Knight named Parn, and his adventuring party consisting of the Cleric Etoh, the Wizard Slayn, a Dwarven adventurer named Ghim, Deedlit the wandering Elf, and a Thief named "Woodchuck", as they fight to oppose the designs of the Marmo Empire, and an evil Sorceress known as the Grey Witch.

The best way to get a feel for it is to watch it. Tune in here; we'll be starting at about the top of the hour!

-----
EDIT: The stream is over, but if you missed it, the feeds are still available here.

You should've joined us, then. We lost Realmfighter halfway through, but beyond that it was a fine event. I think we're watching episodes 3&4 tomorrow night.

The old feeds are all available here, so technically you didn't miss anything... aside from my Roomie stealing the console while I went to make some hot and sour soup.

And here I am, searching for decent anime of 13-26 eps length.

Given that I watched a lot, it's harder and harder with each watched series... any ideas?

Look here, a list of what I have seen.

Try Gungrave?  It's about that length I believe.  Just skip the first episode.  It spoils the entire thing for no reason, gets covered in a later episode, and is really jarring.  The series is pretty good though

There comes a time when you must take off the soft, furry slippers of a boy and put on the shoes of a man.
Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.

Does it pick up at all? I watched the first three or so episodes and none of the characters really clicked with me. The plot sounded great on paper, but it basically boiled down to 'Dead muscley cyborg with pistols shoots some dudes while token old guy and bishoujo deliver dramatic exposition', from what I saw.

Try Area 88 http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Area88. It's brilliant if you like old-school jet dogfighting (At the start of the series, the main character is using a F-8 Crusader against Mig-19 Farmers) , and uses very little, if any, stock footage. It's also incredibly accurate in how the aircraft move.

With that said, does anybody know of any other good dogfighting anime?
