Time stop ammo. Look at the energy cell stats. I think I've gotten a couple of these even in the puppy cave.

Yes, ammo... sorry for the confusion. Though all of the time stop ammo I've seen only have 2 shots, which makes using multiple time stop ammo pointless...

Edit:

Although the minotaur king stop me cold in the track, I just completed Crypt of the Damned and Ancient Castle... and received Earth Hammer. I think I can now properly equip and train my pets to kill the minotaur king.

I still have no idea how to deal with the tower of fire though. I tried with superb fire resist, 5 fire blankets and a fire and acid proof wing, but all my scrolls and potions still got burnt.

Anytime you find ammo with either time stop or massive amounts of other types, store it at your house.  If you find a hard boss carry all of the ammo with you and switch between them.  If you manage to get a half a dozen, you can pretty much defeat anything in the game.  I recommended laser guns specifically because they deal full damage up to their max range minus 1 square and most time stop ammo I've seen were energy cells. Obviously if you have a couple of time stop arrows and are training with the bow, use them.

It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

I didn't get a chance to play it that much, but my immediate thoughts were "This game is terribly unbalanced and not even remotely fair," and then I went on to play it for many many many more turns, after which point I'd sort of stopped caring about the stupid stuff and was more concerned about levelling up my pet bear so I could kill the fire demon that I accidentally summoned into my house.

Nothing wrong with those... it's a roguelike, and it is partly inspired by NetHack.

If you read a difficult spellbook in NetHack without proper security procedures you'll most likely end up dead.

Huh... I love it so far and I'm still on the title screen.

Seriously, this has been really well thought-out and designed. And the Final Fantasy-esque music makes me think it can only get better from here. I don't think I've ever seen a better title screen, not even back in the glory days of Final Fantasy itself. And having played most of those, it's a pretty high praise coming from me.

Also, most Roguelikes are ridiculously unfair. Comes with the territory, for some reason. They also all have a learning curve comparable to Mount Everest.

I do like that Elona doesn't delete your saves. It's an epic roguelike and that's a bit problematic. You can still become permanently !@xored though, so it evens out a bit.

Anyway how do you get more food rations that you can eat in dungeons? I've never found any being sold ever.

I've found some things like nuts, etc. by exploring the wilderness (press 'Space' whilst travelling on the overland map). Also you can sometimes find edible things in dungeons... such as corpses.

Basically, if it's got meat on it or comes from a plant, you can probably eat it.

Herbs never rot (you can check Elona wiki for a list of them), you can find them as random loot, and sometimes in shops. Herbs have a chance give stat bonus when eaten, and do so more often for your pets than you. If you don't have a food shortage problem, let your pets eat them.

Plants and fruits (carrots, grapes, apples, etc.) will eventually rot, but they last longer than meat. Rarely do I get a stat bonus when I eat plants, but my pets get a lot of bonus from them. Sold in shops and as loot, you can also "b"ash a fruit tree.

Pies and bread also never rot (no molds in Elona?). It is best to get the Cooking skill and make them from flour though, as those sold in shops are always heavier than the ones you bake.

The Anatomy skill will improve the chance of leaving a corpse when you kill things.

An online translator says "ページが見つかりません。" means "The page is not found" so I'm assuming it's down.

Nice... Seeing this topic again made me want to download it, too.

Site's back up, by the way.

Not for long, according to most on the forums.

Appears the resident developer/site hosting payer is MIA.
