I think ze most obscure game I've played was Shining Force 2, never saw a shining force 1, and the main hero's a half-elf with a tight shirt and a minni skirt, along with under-developed magic powers and a short sword, luckily you get minions to do most of your fighting, most notably the two dwarfs you get right at the beginning of the game, AXE DWARVES FTW!!!

I've got both Shining Force 1 and 2, the first was fairly popular for Sega Genesis, and was a good RPG for that console.  If you hunt around, you probably can still find a copy of the first Shining Force, I'd recommend it.  :)

Sapiens, without a doubt. I never could figure out how to shape stone weapons, and thus was a lousy caveman.

I totally played this, and I could even make a few stone crafted weapons, it had to deal with mouse button click duration I think simulating raising your hand and slamming it on the stone, outside that I never really understood about the game, like I never discern a purpose or direction for my existence.

I've played a few games, that are obscure unfortunately due to that, I don't remember their exact names. There was one on the Jaguar that was a lemming clone with cavemen instead with some worms thrown in with humor and gadgets. Nother game was on the SNES, with vikings and footballs. They would get into scuffles on the field and kill each other and there would be Elvis sighting in the after game report.

Cannon Fodder for the SNES.

Deadlock, was a TBS for PC/Mac a mid nineties release with limited commercial success, and the most awesome song (that you cannot find online. I dare you!), and had a sequel that wasnt commercially successful.

An old game, which had 13 in the title. Room 13, Hotel 13, it was a detective game, almost all text. I was 11 when I played, but I remember it being awesome and I would to track it down again. If this game rings a bell, I can provide a few more details on game play.

Edit: The title is Floor 13, in which you are the head of a spy service in England using any mean nessicary to keep the populace happy with the Prime Minster.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The Humans, or Evolution: Dino Dudes on the Jaguar.  I played it on Sega Genesis, and always had a rough time trying to figure out how to finish a level without killing someone at the witch doctor.  Another thing I found odd is the cover art for the game...it's done by one of the artists who does a lot of Klutz Publishing's artwork, too.

Nother obscure game was called Foodchain. It was a puzzle game, where you had 4 creature that eat one nother ina  rock paper scicor like fashion, with different special ability per creature. The warthog could eat grass, the bird could occupy trees, so forth. Pretty neat little game.

Ok some obscure game that haven't been meantioned yet:

Cruise for a Corpse (PC/Amiga): A crime solving adventure game release by Delphine Software. A homage to the Agatha Christie mystery novels, where you have to figure out who killed the host of the a ship you where staying in. An adventure where you had to pay attention to the dialogue because you had to point out the murder at the end. I always got stuck halfway through and was one of the games that I played and played and played, but could never get pass that point.

D/Generation (PC): An isometic puzzle game. Very fun.

Obitus (PC): An RPG game with some side scrolling elements. Very hard, because if I remember it didn't have any save points. However also very fun.

Moonstone (PC/Amiga): This game is plain AWESOME. Basically you play a Knight who has to go and find the Moonstone before one of the other Knights does. Epic sword battles against other players in which you can chop of limbs. Pure greatness.

The Starship Titanic game based on or inspired by Douglas Adams.

The text adventure of Hitcher Guide to the Galaxy, I have a copy somewhere round here, and I kept it for like 6 years without being able to run until I found a proser for those old text adventures. Generally those text adventure s are hard as fuck, but this one is unforgiving, despite its nice verb prose system.

Got a really really obscure game I just recalled having played:

Wiz War

I've been waiting years for the 8th edition to come out so I can actually own a copy.

Shining Force is available now on the Touch/iPhone on a Genesis emulator released by Sega themselves. Only $2.99, enjoy!

I think I've play this game. You get a dungeon deck right, right then deal them out and that sets up the play area?

I have "Deadlock"

"Cthangband" basically Angband in HP Lovecraft's "Dreamquest" world

"Bloodstone, an Epic Dwarven Tale" Overhead RPG by Mindcraft, I just learned today it was part of the "Magic Candle" series, so maybe its not as obscure as I thought. Basically goblin/orc equivalents trash your fortress and set you and your party off on a quest.

The most obscure, it think, was the educational DOS game "Marco Polo"

(Which didn't do well at all because most people thought it was boring. I liked history and geography so it wasn't so bad for me.)

I picked up for 5 bucks, I think its called Star Empires V or Stellar Empire V? something like that. Looks interesting, but OMG is there to much crap to deal with and none of it is explained. They could have at least started you out with a couple basic ship designs you can build.
