Most obscure game you've ever played?
« on: March 29, 2008, 04:57:00 pm »

Basically, say the least known game you've played.

For me it's Ishar.

One billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the cosmos. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips, I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my veins. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk and free throw.

Probably It Came from the Desert, an abandonware DOS game, or maybe CthulhuMUD.

Ahh, the youth these days... It was a well-known RPG series back in the Amiga days.
Now, Abandoned Places or Buck Rogers were somewhat more obscure RPGs from that era.

Sobor. I actually played more obscure games (or not) but I can't remember their names and noone can help me because they are so obscure. (BTW if someone knows what these games are, please PM me about it)

Then again, I consider Infinity to be overly ambitious, something that might easily spell it's downfall.

Hmm...  Don't suppose Q*bert would count, now would it?

The main thing that comes to mind would be a game I think was called "Fate of the Dragon".  It had several other names, however.

Either that, or several other copies of the game that had different names.  The game was Chinese, after all.

EDIT:  Oh wait, there's also 'Dungeon Odyssey'.  I'm not sure how many folks know about that one.

Sadly, I don't remember. I played it on my Amiga, the game engine was from the other SSI RPGs of the period (Pools of Radiance and its sequels) plus you could travel in your spaceship throughout the solar systems and fight space pirates and the like.
A cool game overall.

My first RTS and one of my most favourite games ever, Ancient Conquest, perished in obscurity for reasons I'll never understand.

Cap'n Crunch's Crunchling Adventure! ...

I found it in a thrift store and got it for the sheer gag value. It's a suprisingly decent game.

Castle of the Winds.  An old rougelike that focused on magic combat versus weapon combat.

Castle of the Winds owned so much face.  I never got a chance to play the sequel.

I think both actually are released as Freeware now (Maybe even into public domain)

I believe I have Part 1 and Part 2 on my comp at the moment.

Most obscure?

I'm gonna go with Loom
