I'll have a new version up as soon as I verify that it doesn't cause any problems.

Dinos added in this version:
Velociraptor (trainable) (curiousbeast)
Megaraptor/Utahraptor (trainable) (curiousbeast)
Eoraptor (curiousbeast)
Archaeopteryx
Diplodocus
Adamantisaur
Allosaur
Nanotyrannus (trainable)
Stygimoloch

Here's the file: Prehistoria 0.02 alpha

My first fort generated had a diplodocus, 3 allosaurs, and 2 archaeopteryxes in the starting animals, with no errors in the errorlog. Looks good to go.

Looks pretty good, but I do have two complaints.

The raptors seem to be missing the [CANOPENDOORS] tag.   :p

Consider using damblock and tweaking damage to get the proper strength instead of size. But I suspect you are already know that.

Yes, several of the dinos have damblock. I'm trying to keep their sizes correct, although I havn't done any major analysis of them yet. I'm using dwarf=6, human=7, elephant=16 as my basis.

I'll be putting out a new version of this sometime soon. New version will only contain a couple more dinos (probably some of the hadrosaurs and similar dinos) but will have some initial aquatic predators, vermin, and plants. I'm also going to continue tweaking values. Eoraptors, for example, can be a major problem since they come in huge groups and have the [CURIOUSBEAST_ITEM] tag - they tend to completely swarm unprotected stockpiles early on. I havn't seen any megaraptors, but those might even be worse, being CURIOUSBEASTs and LARGE_PREDATORs.

Anyway, just a head's up.

I'm going to add this to the wiki's recently made list of mods.

If they had had doors back then they would've. For example, there were no doors when cats evolved but they can learn to open doors just fine. But there is no way to know for sure so either way would work.

There's no evidence that raptors were any more intelligent than anything else. Anyway, I'm trying to stick more to realism than Jurassic Park-ism. Raptors won't be getting the ability to open doors. They're aggravating enough as is. It's an easy change if that's what you want, though.

Thanks for putting an entry up on the wiki, Karlito; I was going to do that myself, but now I can just build off the stub instead of making it all.

I'm currently aiming for a monday or tuesday release for the next version, but don't quote me on that.

Will you make prehistoric mammals to, like those Australian giant amadrilos whit a club on their tail (like a stegosaurus) and carnivorous kangaroos, maybe some more cliché things like mammoths and sabertooth cats?

Also will you make some DF lore mixin, raptor- and trilobitemen and giant versions of some smaller creatures?

Yes, mammals are on the list. I'll probably have at least a handful done for the 0.03a release.

Re: dinosaur-men and giant versions of critters: Again, I'm going for realistic. If there existed both a large and a small version of the same critter, I'll probably include both. In fact, I've already done so a couple times (eoraptors vs megaraptors, nanotyrannuses vs tyrannosaurs, ammonites vs parapuzosias). Dinosaurmen will not be included in the mod. Neanderthals might, however.

Right now I'm just using the scientific names for everything, but once I get to a more stable version (ie, I'm not adding a dozen species every version), I'm probably going to "fantasy-up" their names. Ankylosaurs will become Macetail Behemoths, t-rexes will become Swordmaws, etc. I'll release it in scientific and in fantasy form, for the purists who want to keep the scientific names.

I'll release either tonight or tomorrow.
