If you can find me reputable info on the giant bugs I'll be happy to include them. As for raptor-men, please read the post two above yours. Is that too much to ask?

By the way, since I'm almost caught up on requests, does anyone have any further requests for the mod?

Outstanding requests are lagosuchus, spinosaur, and pteranodon. All three are currently scheduled for 0.04a, but I may move them up to 0.03a.

The -Man was a joke D: I thought it was obvious.

Anyway, to wikipedia!

...

I can't find any articles on prehistoric giant bugs other than "they existed".
Scouring the first page of google gave me this:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071121/ap_on_sc/biggest_bug_ever_4;_ylt=Ah97ek1dsAfqsApZFyJXeGYE1vAI

Which is pretty awesome.
There were dragonflies with three-foot wingspans.
Other than that I have nothing D:

Yeah, that's the same problem I had. I'll look at the yahoo article and see if I can get any usable info out of it.

Looks like wikipedia has enough info for the giant dragonflies. I'll probably add them tonight. Unfortunately, there isn't enough info for any of the other megabugs  :(

The extropolate... what bugs do we have around now that might have existed in giant form? Roaches, locusts, etc.

Bugs were fairly uncommon in that time because the vast majority of foilage were ferns and they rely on spores.

I'm sorry, that makes no sense. Are you saying insects only eat spores?

As an aside, here's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prehistoric_insect  some info there. Seems they were as common as they are today, as well as larger than they are now obviously.

No, the FERNS rely on spores.

All the plants relying only on spores made the computers crash less, not being invented might also have helped... [/silly]

I suppose he mean that there were no flowering plants, so many insect niches did not exist, mainly pollination.

Alright, I just added Meganeuras (giant dragonflies), plus some small/vermin stuff. I'm running a new world now and if nothing goes wrong I'll have the new version up shortly.

There was something about prehistoric giant scorpion/spider things on the Discovery Channel.  I don't remember what it was, but I know I've seen it.  Since Earth was more oxygen rich back in the day, insects and other things of that nature could afford to be bigger because of the way they sort of passively absorb air from their surroundings.

Heh. That article may as well have been written for the express purpose of getting giant sea scorpions into Prehistoria with as little wasted space as possible. Despite it being such a tiny article, it contains the three things I need to stat up a species: name, size, and biome.
