What a wonderful day to have nothing bad happen to me whatsoever.
In other news, votes don't matter quite yet, for reasons that should be apparent on the next votecount.

I'm not interested in hatting this game.

My role is, uh, a little volatile. I'm not sure how long I'll be around.

Tric: Do you plan on performing with the rest of the group?
Canadian, Agentt, and Kr1ss: You're new to me here, is there anything you'd say is important to know about you?
Watching for NQT's answer on the doublevoting.

What do you mean in a little volatile? Also, by hatting this game, you mean by going to achieve a win condition like HATLO? Also, I already introduced my playstyle so there's that. I'll tell a bit more at the end.
By ‘a little volatile’ I mean that Fallacy is the devil and is coming for my soul. I am, unfortunately, not joking.
Also, I don’t intend to go for Hat Tyrant, yeah.

Mmn, from my experience, games like these don't give mafia just straight up overpowered abilities. Games like these are balanced more on the principle of:

(If that gif doesn't work, it says "If everyone is super then no one will be"

It is also very common for games like these for the host to first come up with roles for players and then give them allignment, I have seen games with Mafia Doctor, where mafia is happy to get that role since now they know no town has that.

I am more intrested in the presence of neutrals...

I would not want to be killed by freaking Neutral Stage Light Expert: Every night you can drop a lightbulb on a player to kill them. Win if you prevent Princess Juliet from getting visited by any man.

I sure love making up roles orz...

Neutral Dreamer
Target 2 players every night and swap their roles. You win after every alive players' role has been changed.

Wanna share something about your role that you think may benefit town for getting that information?
@@)...
Mmn...
No actually.
All my abilities come with extremely specific conditions to meet before I can meet them; so no point.
I did mention before like many, I also have anti-investigative properties.

If I were a fruit vendor, could I give you a fruit?

Okay, that sounds interesting. Does that mean that you won't be around for long? Good luck in making early game reads hahah

I'd love to hear more useful things I can check that may make my (ours) experience more enjoyable.
It looks like you know your way around the quote tags. Being able to [spoiler] is also useful if you have something really long that doesn't need to be displayed immediately, like a load of quotes.

What's that? Did this happen in role PM or are you roleplaying?
Fallacy has been known to include post restrictions in the past. This isn't necessarily happening here, but it's possible Salvatore is required to post a certain way to unlock a power or somesuch.

Okay so, I am too lazy to quote out specific parts as it may mess up with the post, it's long as is, but here it is: I believe that there's a high likelyhood of him having such ability simply due to the fact that I know my role and how balanced it is. So I can see that being true. It's at the level of balance that makes sense as long as his other abilities aren't particulary strong or he's anti-town.
Sure, it could be precisely as he states, the powers in the game are quite powerful. I think he's unlikely to be straight up lying about it, however, that there will likely be a counter ability or some condition to it.

I expect anti-town factions to have some brokenly powerful roles at the level Urist's ability but like, double that probably.
Powerful, yes, certainly. Hopefuly not too broken. If well designed, town should have the tools in our toolbox to take down scum. And besides, most mafia team lose because of playing a poor day game.

In the places where you've played before, what are the norms around...

Random votes - Are you used to having a Random Vote Stage?
Sheeping - Is it normal for players to copy other player's votes or are you expected to have your own case?
Random questions - Do you ask each other random questions at the start of the game, or is everything meant to be strictly game-relevant?
Meta - Do players try to make arguments about how other players usually play like?

It might be useful to get answers here from toastercultist and Agentt too.

On the contrary, I think it's very likely mafia have powerful abilities. The BYOR setup tends towards high power. Fallacy's goal will be to have balanced it out by giving town lots of tricks too.

It is also very common for games like these for the host to first come up with roles for players and then give them allignment
I know the kinds of games you mean, but in this setup it's more likely that the alignments were given first and then roles were made to fit those alignments.

Mafia Fruit Vendor
Every night, give the target a fruit of your choice. You can tie a message to it as well. The receiver can then give that fruit to someone else and also send a message. Every fruit pass has a 50% chance to explode and kill.

To answer your question though...
Hell I know??
I like pears I guess???

Like are you asking for permission?
Sure then?

Still don't get it hmph

1. While not precisely random votes, it was common to vote people for petty reasons on Day 1.

2. Sheeps are discouraged but are often the best option. Since my home sites don't have many mafia players, we often end up playing with first timers who need the kindness to be told its okay to sheep.

3. I don't think anyone posts non-game related questions, but roleplaying is common and that does last for a few pages, often the entire D1. Fluff posts as we call it, involves posts like, "I know Imp-chan is scary"

4. ~.~) Meta is a toughie one, I am not good enough to do it. I have seen players do it, even reading someone's past games again to get better at it but...
bleh, I can't. I can't make reads at all actually.

Mmn, about high power level then. I see, thank you.

The gif thing?

This is a gif. It ends in ".gif":

https://media1.tenor.com/m/WkY7myRWVIkAAAAd/syndrome-incredibles.gif

This is a web page, and somewhere on the page there may be a gif. It doesn't end in ".gif":

https://tenor.com/view/syndrome-incredibles-when-everyones-super-gif-10466529

To make gifs work on the forum you have to link to the gif file itself, not a webpage where it might be found.

1. While not precisely random votes, it was common to vote people for petty reasons on Day 1.
At one stage in the game do you think it's reasonable for players to present good reasons when they vote someone?

bleh, I can't. I can't make reads at all actually.
It's easier to spot pro-town behaviour than scum behaviour, in my opinion. In any game, some players are active, motivated, want to hunt scum, solve the game— those players are usually town.

Good to know. I've found myself when playing on other forums that everywhere tends to play things differently. It's important then to separate what's just different site culture and what's actually scummy.

Mmn, while it's optimal to always have a good reason, it's not always possible. Especially when you have to justify weeding out inactive players. The latest game I played I literally sheeped every single vote because not a single person I voted with reasons had any momentum behind it and I ended up voting the top wagon in the end.

It does result in situation where players complain they didn't had a chance to play or prove themselves.  ...

Gut feelings are genuine though.
While I don't think I believe in existentce of "good posts" coming from uninformed majority; I do expect that atleast the players compile what posts pinged their gut feeling and what does that gut feeling say.

If you actually have the ability to push or pressurise any player, I will genuinely hide in a corner and pray you forget I exist because of how scary that talent is.

So yes, that should tell you about my skill level.

And my experience also tells me that people who know a lot, like having a good estimate of set up, remembering all rules and players, remembering who voted who: are usually mafia.
