Team 1 - Meredith

"That assumes she wouldn't just dodge your bullets." She turned her attention back to Tyline. "Trout, I'm taking you to extra training,  because this is not happening again. If I need to get butchered by a dragon as soon as fighting starts, the least I can do is make sure the two seconds it takes are actually useful."

Team 1 - Tyline

"Ugh. Fine, I guess the least I can do after the piss-poor showing we had just now."
Tyline twists his limiter for deactivation of his powers.
"I swear, I should have just picked up a sword and charged at her had I known that she could catch arrows. At least that would have made me more useful..."

Vakari

After the assessment and a medical checkup, Vakari returned to meet with Leader Campbell again.

The man was lounging rather unprofessionally, as expected, while reading a file. Although he clearly noticed Vakari enter, he made no attempt to begin the conversation himself.

Cordelia and Elkar

The first day of school was going well for Cordelia and Elkar. Their class had proven unexpectedly receptive, and they'd immediately become celebrities with their peers thanks to their unique knowledge and abilities. In fact, they'd been so disruptive that their teacher had called an extended recess for them to go outside and show off their abilities (with permission from the military advisor stationed at the school, of course).

Which is how a student had ended up standing in front of Cordelia with a bucket full of frigid water.

Jordan

Elsewhere at the same school, Jordan was having a much less exciting time. While his classmates hadn't been outright hateful, they were clearly nervous of him. His quiet demeanor didn't help either, giving him a stoic and intimidating vibe.

Which is what made it all the more surprising when the girl at the next desk over poked him with her toe and whispered, "Hey, dragon-boy, wanna be friends?"

Kaymor, Ren, and Dia

The rest hadn't been having nearly as lucky a time. The other school they'd been sent to was much more hostile, and Kaymor in particular had been making things worse.

Gym class was shared between multiple classes, so it was a place where a lot of competition ends up taking place. But today the conflict wasn't between classes, it was between Kaymor and a few older students. Somehow a few insults had turned a rope climb into an all-out brawl, and despite the presence of multiple instructors, no one had made any attempt to stop Kaymor from getting beat to shit. And none of the other dracotines in the gym had managed to work up the courage to interfere yet either.

The ringleader of the other students, a large boy with long dreadlocks, grabbed Kaymor by the hair and pulled her off the ground. One of his lackeys, a bigger girl with a tattoo of a wolf on her arm, used the opening to knee Kaymor in the gut.

"So, Pointy, are you ready to apologize yet, or is it gonna be more backtalk?" the boy sneered.

His other lackey, a relatively smaller boy with short blonde hair and heterochromia stood a short distance away with a bat. He hadn't participated much yet, and generally seemed a bit less comfortable with how far this had gone compared to the other two.

Saviri, Saif, Amara, Peppermint

While around ten dracotines had decided to remain in the dracotine academy to continue their education, the actual educators hadn't arrived aboard the ship yet. As such, a teacher for the younger dracotines had briefly stepped in and assigned a general study hall session wherein the gathered dracotines were expected to brush up on their basic subjects in preparation for higher learning.

Most present had taken that order to mean it was a free hang-out period, and so the classroom was abuzz with chatter as friend groups filtered together and hung out.

In light of this, Peppermint moved her desk over closer to Saif and Saviri (who were adjacent). "Hey Saif, you already know the basic high school stuff, right?" she said, "We should catch up while we've got the free time."

Amara, somewhat lacking in friends, had found her desk isolated as others moved away from her to group up.

Team 1 - Vakari Delthera

Vakari sits down.

Folds his hands. Unfolds them.

Get ahold of yourself, man.

Takes a steadying breath.

You already made the decision, after all.

Straightens his back further, raising his head about an inch, and looks Leader Campbell in the eye.

"Team 1 is capable of conducting the expedition."

There's a 'but' there. 'But I'm still worried.' 'But some of them might die.' 'But capability is not a guarantee of success.'

But there is never a guarantee of success. Not in the military. Not against dragons.

There is only the best chance you've got.

And that's Team 1.

Team 3 - Cordelia

Truthfully, Cordelia couldn't believe her luck. She was always one to adore the attention (when it suited her), and this time, she barely had to try to be in the spotlight. A result of her natural charm, that she had no doubt about. Her (and her comrade's) presence was unusually positive, a far cry from her time at the Dracotine Academy, enough that their presence alone was disruptive of the class, and that was just how she liked it.

Of course, she didn't anticipate class being postponed and them being given free reign to demonstrate their abilities, but Cordelia wasn't worried. It was a chance to show off.

Thus, she clears her throat, focusing the attention on her as she begins to speak, "Now then, since all preparations are in order, I believe it's time we begin presentation. My dear comrade, can you please step forward?" she asks, gesturing at Elkar.

Team 2 - Amara
The isolation, of course, bothered one such as Amara little. If anything it ensured a lack of probing questions or jokes to distract her from doing as they were supposed to do. She propped her feet up on her desk and kicked back with a science textbook, paying special attention to the section covering electricity. While her, and many other's, powers tended to take the finer points of physics as suggestions rather than hard rules to be worked around, some of it could still prove useful.

And it was either this or study their notes on dragon anatomy again, but she'd already practically memorized those. It'd be much more useful to compare them against samples in the field at this point.

Team 2 - Saviri

Saviri barely looked up from the papers in front of him, even as he adjusted his collar for the umpteenth time during this study hall. He was attempting to read up on his worst subject, History, even now as he prepared for a new chapter in his schooling. Still, energetic niceness is too engraved in his bones to leave Peppermint without a greeting. "Hi Pepper. Good to see you."

Team 2 - Jordan

Jordan had obviously noticed the way his classmates acted - he'd have to be blind otherwise - but he mostly just accepted it as a natural consequence of his demeanor and appearance, especially with the whole dracotine thing factored in. Still, nobody was actively hostile towards him, which he appreciated.

The offer of friendship snapped Jordan out of his focus. He was pleasantly surprised, and turned to get a good look at the person who asked him.

"Uh... okay. Your name is...?" he asked quietly, tilting his head to the side.

Team 3 - Elkar

Elkar couldn't be happier with the response he got from the other students. He was practically already a rock star - and he hadn't even began to show off yet.

Cordelia was in the spotlight for now - but there was no need to rush things. Besides, they were both members of the same band (so to speak) so the better she looked, the better he would look by association and there would surely be time for him to return the favor later.

"Sure thing, 'my dear comrade'..." He stepped forward, looking down at the other dracotine. He projected a cool fearless aura, but gave her a 'don't mess this up for me' look.

Team 3 - Cordelia

Cordelia grins as Elkar steps forward, brushing off his look as she turns her focus to the crowd of students, "Fantastic, moving on: We have here a demonstration of my own abilities. Here-" she begins, gesturing towards the student with the bucket, "-we have a bucket of freezing cold water. Once I give the signal, they shall dump it over the head of my dear comrade, and not a single drop of water shall actually touch them" the Dracotine says confidently. And before her new assistant could speak, she clears her throat once more, placing a hand on her limiter as she shouted out her activation code,

"Trigger: On!"

... Naturally, her activation did not visibly do much out of the ordinary, aside from the deployment of her gauntlets and boots. But, Cordelia didn't bring attention to that, merely taking off her sun hat and taking a step towards Elkar, pressing it into his hands as she looked up at him, "As a sign of good faith, I shall even give you my hat. That is how confident I am in my promise" she says. In truth, her close proximity was entirely an excuse to look up above Elkar's head, using her power to create the 'bubbles' she was known for above him. She didn't entirely trust herself to create the bubbles accurately from a vertical view, but from a horizontal? Even she couldn't mess that up.

With that, she steps away, snapping her fingers at the Bucket Student, "Now, dump away!"

Team 3 - Kaymor

Maybe the smart thing would've been to keep quite. Lay down and take the loss...

'Never was good at that. Never giving up is a positive, right?'

She thinks as her eyes move up to lock eyes with the latest in a long line of assholes. Struggling through the world seemingly spinning around her from the beating, Kaymor responds with a grin, "Sorry. What was that? Your puppy here hits harder than you. Couldn't think straight."

Team 3 - Saif

Peppermint's voice snapped Saif out of his worried reverie, wondering how his team members were doing in public school.

"Oh yeah. Sure I do Pepper, wanna—wait, do you mean catch up on life talk or studies?"

"Hey steve." You speak into the air.
>Yes?
"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

Team 3 - Ren

Ren usually took pride in knowing how to react to any given situation so that things would turn out smoothly, no matter how ridicilous or convoluted her solution had to be. So naturally, she tried to de-escalate things before they'd turn out even worse.

"Kaymor I don't mean to intrude but maybe you shouldn't provoke another fight so openly..."

Vakari

Leader Campbell nodded once, almost to himself. He set down the report he was reading and met Vakari's eyes. "I'm glad to hear it, Elite Warrior Delthera. You and your team have two weeks to requisition any supplies and equipment you need. Rest assured, they'll be equal in quality to the war game materials you requested." He grabbed a few forms and passed them to Vakari.

"You'll be assigned a full company as support, including four of the navy's latest hardtop striker tanks, two self-propelled anti-dragon weapons, a deathrattle sonar vehicle, four half-tread cargo trucks, and eight crunchers. I'll be assigning one of my lieutenants to lead these forces, and you will be expected to follow their orders outside of combat scenarios. But you'll be given free reign to determine when you and your team can activate your limiters and decide on combat strategy as you see fit. They are there to support you, not the other way around."

Cordelia and Elkar

The other student didn't hesitate much once Elkar and Cordelia seemed to be ready. Despite the instruction, it wasn't really much of a dump. The excited student took the bucket and upturned it while also moving it forwards, causing the water to fly out at an angle. Cordelia's impressive lattice almost entirely protected Elkar (and her hat), but much of the frigid spray flew past him and into Cordelia.

Jordan

"Pyxi." she answers. "So, Dragon-Boy, is it true that you can jump three stories high and breath fire hot enough to melt steel?"

Saviri, Saif, Amara, and Peppermint

"Hi Saviri." Peppermint gave a quick friendly smile.

Then to Saif she answered, "Life, of course. I've got a head start on high school too so I'm not worried." she says, "Last time you called you said your mom had a baby, how's your little sister doing? Did she ever tell you who the dad is?"

Kaymor, Ren, and Dia

Wolf girl's eyes snapped over to Ren. "Maybe you should mind your own business, lizardbrain." she sneered.

The ringleader slammed Kaymor's face into the ground as hard as he could, causing her vision to go black for a few seconds. He gestured for the other boy to come over, and when there was a brief hesitation, he grabbed the bat and yanked it out of the other boy's hands. He stood up and spun it around a few times while snickering, before bringing it down on the back of one of Kaymor's legs.

Jeers from the crowd egged him on all the while.

Cordelia

In her confidence, Cordelia had stood off to the side, hands on her hips and eyes closed as she waited for the sound of water splashing onto the ground. Unfortunately for her, the sound only came when the frigid water slammed into her, causing her to shout in surprise and flail about for a moment before coming to a stop, looking down at herself, blinking slowly as she processed what happened.

... But, despite the frigidness, she cleared her throat, walking forward to take her hat back, "W-Well, as you c-can see, the water in fact did not h-hit Elkar h-here. Unexpectedly, it decided to go for me, but I did not l-lie" she says, trying to talk back the slight chattering of her own teeth before she gestures to the teacher, "T-Towel please."
