Since player to player voicemails are half speed compared to NPCs (having to send and then wait a month for reply) to close this gap I will be sending those voicemails 1 additional time, that being when actions are locked in, if any have already been submitted before that deadline.

I don't expect the next update to be finished soon, but I'll give a heads up the day before if it's getting close...

So Webadict has this cool bot for assisting with Mafia. I feel like that tool could assist, with something like this. Which is basically the forum game equivalent of an MMO.

If bots could assist with some of the more tedious things, like tracking info, running calculations, and then someone like me could step in and write the story bits, that would be pretty cool.

When criticized for his soft stance on crime, the mayor was quick to point out "Things could be worse." Mayor Cobblepot has based his re-election campaign on this fact, with current polling in his favor over playboy billionaire Bruce Wayne. One has to admit it has been a long time since Gotham wasn't the leader in crime rates, a loathsome honor now moved on to District X, which is entangled in a sprawling Gang War. "Gotham has shown they have risen above such petty discrimination by electing the best candidate despite their birth defects, and will do so again in January." As of yet Bruce's claims that Oswald had and still has ties to the criminal underworld have not been proven in court.

Thank you everyone for your many kind words.

If feeling appreciated and feeling your enthusiasm was all I needed to resume, it would have happened. I have burnout. If completing this was as simple as rolling some dice, I could do that. But my role in this forum game is more than calculator and dice roller. I need to make decisions about the world and how player interactions will intermingle, and this open ended game has surpassed my capacity. That's frustrating to say, because I already did two updates, and unlike past sandbox games of mine that failed due to an expanding world, I simply am fatigued from repeatedly working at basically the same level.

I am not sure when I will recover, and I may host other forum games. I may just update Noir out of the blue. I won't expect you to wait around, and if you've moved on when it comes, if it comes, I understand. I may finish the next update soon, but that doesn't take away from the fact of my burnout, and so it won't mean following updates will necessarily be quick to follow.

I don't really have any tools to recover from burnout other than time, and I seem to be accumulating it and carrying it over from past times it's happened. I don't know, I love forum games and I'll keep hitting my head against this wall.

Right.

You said anyone 'else' SN, I took that to mean "I am totally planning to make something like this, am I only one"? Maybe you meant "Dang, I hope some can provide this kind of experience now this is closed."

I will reiterate this is not closed, just I am going to stop feeling anxiety about self imposed time tables. Right now most turns are mostly done, and some are fully done. I just have been having a hard time motivating myself to polish them. I could see myself finishing up within a couple days of finding that motivation, but I didn't want to leave anybody on the hook.

That said, if someone feels they can provide something like this I think that could be good. I am not going to stop this, but I am obviously struggling..

One thing I will be changing going forward is a limit of 5 actions per turn, which tbf most players stay under already. If someone has the capacity to manage more then more power to them. But even 10 action x 8 players is already 80 actions, and I think anyone would find it difficult to keep actions feeling meaningful at that point...
