Classic case of the turn updating while I wasn't in a position to reply then promptly forgetting

LGEM: New Mutation: Complex stomach system   for breaking down the materials that come through the internal pathway efficiently.

LGEM: New Mutation: Open circulatory system bathe the stomach (and any other organs) in a sort of oxygenated soup, to give additional energy for processes.

Mutation 1: Basic Nerve System

Mutation 2: Parasitic tendrils that sucks nutrients from the victim which it uses to grow.

Team X2
MT1: Electrolocation to find food. SS roll.
MT2: Double down on Electrolocation mutation.
(Might take a hit to pop if one is bad, but that's evolution.)

(Hunting the Perfect Predator. And using numbers to test genetic mutations.)

Events are now on.

Power: 72

The World

The seafloor all through the Guguli shallow has risen in size and altitude, both increasing the amount of photosynthesis and the size of the seamount.

Current populations have all increased by 10, and the carrying capacity of the Guguli shallows is now 15 species in total.

Can you explain a little more about Speciation... if a creature were to only speciate in a turn, how would the different species be distinct from one another? What's the difference between splitting a species into two sister species and creating an offshoot? Is it that the latter preserves the existing species?

If you would use two of your votes, that will make three species. They would be distinct.

Creating an offshoot preserves the original lineage. Splitting destroys it.

OK my species has a decent fitness, so let's give speciating a try!

LGEM: Speciate the Undulating Cownut, creating an offshoot

LGEM: Speciate the Glistening Sludgiboo, creating an offshoot. Through the intake of water into it's structure, it becomes even in buoancy and can move around slowly through the waters, gliding on the currents.
LGEM: Speciate the Glistening Sludgiboo, creating an offshoot.  Through the digestion of acidic food, it's acidity has further increased to make it a bad snack and help digest food more readily.

Flips evolutionary coin.

Hah. Offshoots. Mere party tricks. (Really getting screwed by the dice here.)

Mutation #1 Crude pheromones that signal other members of their species to not attack them.

Mutation #2: Two small holes that absorb oxygen and then expel it for a method of propulsion and therefore faster movement.

Ah, so it would have been good to know that you can simultaneously mutate and speciate at the same time. No matter.

LGEM:  Improve Northern Undulating Cownut "Spines": Thin, sharp and/or poisonous!

LGEM:  Mutate Midsea Undulating Cownut: Gain a swim bladder so it can rise above the dangerous ocean floor

Ultimate Predator:

Double down on the parasitic tendrils mutation and try to make them more efficient, durable, just better overall.

Mutation 2: Start producing large quantities of bioelectricity that is expelled through the tendrils once they are attached to another species to prevent them from running away and added damage.

(Hah. Creating different species. I shall focus on one lifeform and create the ULTIMATE PREDATOR)
