One player has suggested being able to field a deck of greater than 40 cards. My first feeling is that it's probably fairest to stick to one deck size for everyone (even if normally bigger decks are harder to play well), but it's not a strong feeling. Anyone have any arguments either way?

I feel like that's something that a pair of players should agree on doing together on a per-match basis, rather than just a tournament-wide thing.

Meanwhile I feel it's something that needs to be a part of the rules, specifically with the random decks. Even if we do break that limit, decks should probably be between 40 and 60 cards.

Same. In most cases I'd say 40 cards are better anyhow. Consistency is key.

In the meantime, we have legal decks for everyone and no challenges so I have randomly assigned them as such:

Battlefield One

Supernerd vs Stirk

and

Battlefield Two

Unraveller vs Failbird

TricMagic will sit this round out, but will have first preference on being assigned next round.

Battle 1 ends in victory for Stirk.

Supernerd and Stirk go forward to their next Design Phase and may submit up to two new cards to me. They may also optionally Ban one card, make Rare two, or... a new third option:

Players can alternatively send up to two cards for review. This keeps them in play but rebalances them. A card cannot be both banned and reviewed, but a rare card can be reviewed.

So to recap the options. You may either:
- Ban one
- Rarify two
- Review two
- Rarify one, review one

The following cards were revealed last round and will be added to the repository. Anyone may now include them in their decks, unless they get banned or reviewed:

Once Stirk and Supernerd choose whether they're banning etc, Stirk and TricMagic may enter their next combat phase and fight in Battlefield One.

I find it amusing the new cards are a case of expansion power creep often seen in the lifecycle of card games.

Yes, it's so hard to avoid! Because every time I look at a new card, I think well it's as powerful as this other existing card but that just ratchets everything ever upwards. It's interesting because the Highschool cards were almost the opposite, with deliberately low power levels.

My hope is the ban/review/rare system should act as a rebalancing element and help keep things roughly in line.
