Spoiler: Just beat Theseus & Asterius with Extreme Measures (click to show/hide)

I'll admit, I grinned when I saw the bandolier and realized he had guns now. I was like "Oh and Asterius has some armor too.

Turns out, this fight was not what I expected. I found it....actually easier in some ways than the standard fight. Because it actually forces you to pace yourself by making just big areas of "nope" damage. Didn't have any Deflect at all, either.

Theseus in the Chariot is actually easier than regular "Sit at the edge of the screen and spear ye ass" Theseus. He just kinda drives around laughing maniacally, launching lots of AoE with a generous window of avoidance around the edges of the arena sporadically. Sometimes he shoots you with his gun if you happen to be right in front of him. No shield, no obnoxious stuff.

But Asterius goes absolute freak beast on you. You know the patterns so well that it takes you a second to realize...hey....that's AoE on the leap slam! Or how he charges like 3x faster than before. And all the other upgrades. By the time he's doing the swirly swing of axe madner that covers almost the entire screen you realize that it's his time to shine this time, fuck Theseus.

It's also kinda when you realize that you just have to go slower, stop spamming your brains out and hoping to dash through shit, because there's so much spam on the screen there's no point to being aggressive.

Beat 'em first try. Although I am using Guan Yu with Aphrodite Weak Attack cranked way the fuck up, and chance to Charm on Weak. So that's a lot of damage and healing on my own swirly swirly charged attack. But spear as I've noted is historically not my best weapon. I will say, for all the buildup, Extreme Measures T&A did not disappoint.

I do like how EM Champions is like an entirely different fight.

EM [FINAL BOSS] though.... ugh. I think I'm like 25% of that fight so far.

I really hope they do a major expansion to this game and keep building on it, because it seems like their best game ever. Sadly I don't think that's in the cards.

I haven't played Transistor or Pyre but I agree, I think this is their best and most complete game they've made to date.

Oh, interesting, I think I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum... I felt like Bastion is their most complete game to date. I'd put Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre all above Hades in terms of my enjoyment of the gameplay... I think I put about an hour in Hades before I got bored, and maybe I've just been too immersed in Greek and Roman myths to find another take on those characters interesting, and the gameplay just didn't resonate with me.
