The Growth of the expansionist Duke also depends on whether they use all their grain to guarantee victory, or if they split their expenditure.
Sure, and indeed in the example I gave, if a duke had 25 income and no enemies at their border, then they could expand with certainty with 20 and invest the remainder.

Position is much more important than any of the above though. I think the Polish and British games both showed that the strongest position is one without neighbours, trumping even getting a duchy bonus. The less borders you have to defend, the more you can invest and/or expand. And as a corollary: the more your opponents have to invest in defence and use their conquests on already-conquested ground, the easier it will be for you to edge ahead.

Take out neighbouring smaller rivals if you can, but if your conflict looks to turn into a protracted war (i.e. both sides are evenly matched in income and strategic acumen), reach an early ceasefire and maintain as small a border as possible with them.

In any case it would be a battle of critical thinking and I refuse to fight an unarmed individual.

Yeah think Doomblade in better position to test Plutocrat type due to him having no near neighbours. And yeah as learned in other games less borders you have the better same with having enemies not near you.

It's really interesting because the potential risk/reward each turn changes so much. I like the new starting options.

It was tragic but one of us was going to die. My tip is to check where other people have picked when you decide your starting location.

Haspen, my grain figure isn't quite right.

I'm... probably dead, rip.

Too late to ask for a truce, naturegirl :p? I'd actually wanted to ask last turn but orders were in already when I thought of it.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

sorry, no truce, for all I know you would attack me when I’m focused on another target. While some bacteria may be harmless in a host with a healthy immune system, a new parasite would compromise it, allowing the bacteria to do harm
